Memorial Day
By Truth in Miscellaneous
I hope all of you take the time to reflect and give thanks for the sacrifices that were made so that we may enjoy the freedoms that we have today. You may not always agree with those that are elected to run this country, but never forget it is because of the sacrifices made by those who serve this great nation that you have the right to disagree.
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." -General George S. Patton

Thanks for the comments George,
I suppose I should have put a note in the post, but now that there are comments about policy, and politics, etc don't let this get out of hand. Sadly the comments at YouTube on these kinds of videos spiral out of control into flame wars over the politics of the war. DO NOT LET THAT HAPPEN HERE!
I would prefer if you want to have a political discussion to take it over to the forums, this post is a reflection of the sacrifices those made for this nation let's keep it that way.
You have my permission to delete the post
George,
Your comment is fine, I just don't want to see anything get out of hand. So I thought I would say something sooner then later so I wouldn't have to end up doing something dramatic like disable comments.
Likewise, I hope everyone has taken at least a moment or two from the distractions of the day to think about the many thousands of soldiers who have given so much of themselves for their country.
While I, too, disagree with the current policy that has put this generation of soldiers in harm's way, that does not detract from the dedication and determination that our troops take with them wherever they are asked to serve. They will deny that they are heroes and claim that they are only doing their jobs. I say that they have taken on a hero's job. For that we should be grateful and always mindful of what they give up to do this job for the rest of us.
I heard a friend of mine wish an acquaintance a "Happy Memorial Day." To me, this day is not "happy" in the way that so many holidays are. In my mind, it should be a deeply reverent day. But I think most of the men and women of our armed forces like a good bar-b-q, so I won't be too entrenched in my perspective.
It's a day to say "Thank you for your service to the country."

Listen to the song in the video. We're in a storm, politically and socially. It's about keeping faith in the midst of the storm. Of hanging in there even at great loss.
Look at the soldiers holding little children, mourning their loss as well as the loss of friends. The parents, wives, and children of soldiers who are driven to their knees in prayer that their soldier comes home.
The courage of those who come home wounded in body and mind.
I"m facing that. One son has been to Iraq and back, another departs this fall.
No matter what happens, I'll keep the faith. I'll see his face again, if not here, then at the feet of Jesus.
Thank you for these pictures along with the perfect song to go with them. I cried while watching! We need to praise during the storms of life. We won't always agree on issues like these, but we can always look up and find comfort in our time of need. Storms definitely will come in our lives and if we don't learn to praise God through them, then there is no true lasting peace. I know this personally, as I learned to praise God all through my cancer treatments five years ago.
That was beautiful and thank you for posting. I wish I had seen it sooner. It brings everything into prospective and what I have to appreciate in life.
That was amazing. Thanks for posting it here. I was in Saudia Arabia in '91 and my youngest boy, a United States Marine, is soon to go to Iraq. Thanks to all those who have sacrificed (without question) so much to preserve world freedom.
May GOD (and a few well placed satchel charges) save us. Godspeed and Semper Fi!
Thanks for the video . Boy does it bring back memories. We do thank our lord jesus crist for these very brave men and women. I do not agree with women in the field of combat and i never will. However, i thank those who have served and those who sacrificed thier lives for what they believe in and our belief as well! Ever sence the exsistance of America we have battled. War seems to be the anser sometimes. I hope and pray that some day we can some how end war all together! To see these mem and women being brougth home in caskets and the extreme pain of a young boy or young girl who lost his/her father or mother at war, just tears our hearts. When will we learn?
This was very nice. Thank you for posting.
I was against going into Iraq. I thought we should have tried harder to track down bin Laden, and I couldn't see how he might end up in Iraq, at least not in the immediate future.
I never understood the ratio of and conflict between Shite-Sunni, both in Iraq and in the world, until AFTER all this internal strife started.
I thought, (putting aside WMD's), how come OUR intelligence didn't see this coming? Are we stupid or something? Well, the Senate is about to release a report that shows CIA AND OTHERS knew and warned Bush of this potential conflict, and he ignored it.
His proponents say his INTENTIONS were good. Remove Sadaam, establish democracy, establish a base in the mideast, maybe put an end to all this Arab-Israeli fighting once and for all. But the timing? Just AFTER 9-11? Sadaam seemed contained to me. But, what was the saying? "The road to hell is paved with good intentions?"
Fighting terrorism 'over there' instead of here makes sense. But there were NO terrorists in Iraq until WE interfered, is how it seems to me.
Futher, I think it took a lot of GALL to just go into ANYONE'S country, UNINVITED 'for regime change'. In the past, the CIA would do a more 'gentlemanly' regime change by just assasSanating the leader. Now, I think we can't do that, and quite frankly I think that made us a lot of enemies. I think the INTENT of our law, was for us NOT to interfere in the internal affairs of countries.
Nevertheless, we are there. I think this country is more unsafe today, than before we wnet into Iraq. I think we will be MUCH MORE unsafe in the future due to George Bush. That will be his legacy.
Why even bring this up? Becaause I was always an Independent thinker and voter.
And it didn't take but ONE major Quixtar conference to see that THIS organization is ALL Republican. I resented that. I didn't join a POLITICAL organization, I joined a BUSINESS organization. They USE the Q platform to preach the republican-Bush message, and INFLUENCE ELECTIONS.
So, sorry for the long rant, but there is the connection. More terrorism > War in Iraq > Bush > Amway's Founders-contributors-supporters > elections > major conferences > voting influenced > Ibos and Soldiers... both fighting for 'Freedom'...
and NOW a Senate report to confirm what I THOUGHT for a long time.
God bless America and her fighting Men (women). Happy Memorial Day.
