What to do with your friends.
By Drew in Quixtar
I found an interesting article by Matthew Paulson who has decided to lay out how to deal with friends who are involved in Quixtar and other MLM "schemes". He apparently is not a big fan of Quixtar, and feels that IBOs who can't take no for an answer have a character flaw:
In the event that the person won’t take no for an answer, you can tell that they have a very serious character flaw. They are only interested in having you as a friend because you could hypothetically make them more money.
Anyway, take a look at his article for yourself and see what he has to say about dealing with friends in Quixtar.
Comments
this is funny Quixtar is a waste of time and energy.
Wow, you seem to be very active in always making your point, i do hope you will someday be able to have more passive/residual/portfolio income coming in than your expense. Or else, your just another whiner
Anyways, i agree with the article. Im one of those people who still have their friends, and not pressure them into quixtar. I dont mind talking about business with them, as its not like quixtar is my only plan in life.
BUT, i disagree with most of the money being made through the tool system, as Tools are optional, and are just needed for personal development. Theres only so many CDs available for purchase...the only cds that are constantly bought are the SoT
"Wow, you seem to be very active in always making your point, i do hope you will someday be able to have more passive/residual/portfolio income coming in than your expense. Or else, your just another whiner."
Is that for me, or the author of the article I linked?
"BUT, i disagree with most of the money being made through the tool system"
Have you bothered looking into it, or are you just happy with the excuses you listed?
It was aimed at you.
I should read what i type before posting it. Anyways, are you saying its not possible to make a profit without tools sales? Cuz im sure you need to reach Platinum (right?) to be able to start selling cds/books.
Lots of money can also be made by active downlines.

You said you disagree that most of the money is being made in tools. I am asking if you looked into this or not. I am not saying if you can make money without tools or not.
As far as your comment about passive/residual income are you telling me that you are right now making enough passive/residual income to cover all of your living expenses?
If a friend tries to rope you into buying expensive products(if he doesnt believe in those products himself) with the intention of making money thru you is not a true friend. Besides it is very difficult to remain a friend of an IBO who has completely bought the Quixtar dream. All the EX-Quixtar IBO friends have stopped calling me,wishing me now because I am not an IBO anymore. What happened to the friendship we had before????
This is one of the facts that lend credence to the cult allegations.
@Drew
To cover all my living expenses? Nope, but im sure you know what my aim. I just started this january, and unlike what porkchop said, i wont be worried about paying rent after 10 years.
@Kicked/Balaji
Its not a cult. Its a belief. The problem is sometimes the sponsor who gives information that isnt 100% true just to hype them up.
Theres also a problem with IBOs who just have quixtar and jobs, and IBOs that have quixtar and other sources of income. At times, they belittle businesses and other sources as its not worth the time and etc. I mean, im still active, but because im not actively always going to meetings everday, im not a good example, even though i have a good 5IBO downline (active)
Wow! Someone's upset.
Christian,
I didn't say you couldn't afford rent in 10 years. I said you couldn't afford rent on a double-wide. You could probably well afford a boarding room or something. Or you could build a shelter out of stockpiled products.
And the "it's not a cult, it's a belief..."
That's a new one. Who told you to believe that? Wait - let me guess...
I was involved in Quixtar at 18 and built the "business" for a little over 3 years. I barely broke even. I used to contact people at malls, gas stations, anywhere for "The Dream" of not having to work another day in my life like the Kingpins. Long story short, I learned many good things and success priciples that have helped make me a successful entreprenuer today. However, I have seen and experienced the many evil, covetous, deceptive, and down-right demonic practices that come from being an IBO in organizations like BWW, LTD, WWDB and many others.
The IBO contacting you is someone in desperate need and is more than likely being deceived by someone. You may think you know that person as a friend, but if they join an organization like Quixtar, all that shows is a desperate need. All you can do is love them (tough love is still love), forgive them, and support their soul in prayer. They will figure out whatever it is they need to figure out one way or another, or they will rise to dedicate their lives to the path of the kingpins.
Either way it's their choice, but don't let their choice influence what choices you make. You're better off thinking for yourself.
Bottom line...this article is spot on.
"To cover all my living expenses? Nope, but im sure you know what my aim."
I only ask, because by your logic you put yourself into the "just another whiner" category. I don't see how not having passive income to cover your living expenses makes you a whiner, but apparently you do and I just thought I would point out that your logic places you in that same category.
@Porkchop
Im upset? Nah, i just took that as a challenge. I know i shoudnt even bother to care from someone thats future is based on a job, but i like the fact that i was challenged that rent is a problem in my future. And im going to be living in a boarding room? Thats wierd, im currently in negotiation for a boarding house. Im also preapproved..if you know what that means.
its not a cult, its a belief. From my point of view, and im not brainwashed dont worry, thats true. I havent attended any meetings in 3 weeks, but i still have clients (and getting new ones) and i have 3 new prospects (1 serious). All on transit. Ive also stated that i do talk to strangers out of boredom.

@Forgiven IBO
Im going to agree on most part. Most new IBOs or old IBOs who just plainly suck are usually desperate to get downlines. Or they lied to their current downlines when they sponsored them and it causes a big turnover

@Drew
If were talking about income from everything to cover living expenses. No.
If were talking about just quixtar. Yes.
What were you talking about anyway?
Hi, I'm new to this forum. Unfortunately, I started looking into the Quixtar business after I signed up for it. However, I knew that this business was not right for me since the very beginning, and all those ideas about "quitting your job after 2 years" and "you'll earn more than $150k within 2-6 years" are just plain...odd. The only reason I signed up knowing that, in my opinion, is a very bad business was to help my friend...a desesperate IBO trying to still make some profit (if still possible) after so many months. Anyway, I would like to ask if anyone knows if you do get your registration fee back before 3 months, after starting your membership, have passed. Cause I asked several times to my friend's sponsor if I'll get my money back if I decide to quit, and he assure me I will. With that warranty, I decided to sign up to help my friend, which I know it was foolish and in vain, cause now it's clear that if I don't make any money, neither he will. So if anybody has experience with getting their registration fee back, please let me know. By the way Drew, great posts, very informative, thanks.

@Nelly
Dont ask your uplines. Directly call quixtar
Nelly,
Just call Quixtar at 1-800-253-6500. By the way, if you simply sell products at retail (or a slight discount), you can make your membership fee up in 1 or 2 sales. With very little effort, plenty of profit can be made.
Good luck.
@Christian
I was planning to tell my friend that I'm going to widthdraw form this, but I guess I better get off first and then inform him. What a mess I put myself through!! Thanks Christian.
@Anon
Yes, I actually thought of selling the sample package that I have, so I don't have to buy anything from there and get somehow what I paid. So they are for sale now lol. I also gave it a thought about continuing in quixtar if I just sell the products instead of creating a network of downlines, but I'm not a sales-type person, and in different auction websites the products go for less than the discount price we are given at quixtar. So I'll try to get my membership fee back and try to get something out from the starter kit I got...thanks for the number and the advice.
I just wanted to say that Quixtar does not work. You do. If you're not a believer of the plan or the products you will not get any benifit to being involved. To the guy who signed up to "help" his friend, you're stupid! Just signing up won't help anyone, not even who you signed up under. And the only way anyone will benifit by signing up is if they go way beyond just signing up. If you go to college and never use your degree, that won't benifit you either. Duh! Y'all are just great examples of people looking for someone or something else to blame their failures on. Good Luck!
@nadc...
My thoughts exactly!
it is interesting reading the comments that people atucally started fighting for their opinion. I just signed up to be an IBO, and i didn't expect i will make it to diamond so soon. i don't know what kind of environment you guys have. but i actually like people are all ways encouraging you when you go to the meetings. they are positive (no matter what their real purposes are). I have read from 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyasaki, that a business failed is not because of what kind of business you are doing, it is because of the person who operates it. i decided to sign up to be an IBO, not one force me to, I can't blame anyone or Quixtar if I failed because i have thought about it for a long time before i sign up.
My sister's tried to be a Mary Kay independent consultant once, she just packed and sent back the over $2000 of unsold product back to the HQ a few days ago (don't even know if we can get the money back and will be a $100 shipping lost). we didn't blame the company because there actually is an income opportunity. lots of ppl make good $$ from it. Quixtar and Mary Kay are just like other sales professions. if people would like to, they can just criticize all of them
That's one good thing about this forum - if anyone would pester me about signing up, I'd simply say I hang out on the "anti-Quixtar" forum and have been declared an "enemy" by the IBOA.
They pretty much leave me alone after that....LOL!!!
