New Quixtar Discussion Forum

By Truth in Miscellaneous

For quite some time now the Qblog Forum has been the only forum of it's kind for discussion about Quixtar and all the other aspects that comes with that subject. Well this post's purpose is to annouce that the Qblog Forum now has company. As the owner of the Quixtar Inside Out blog I have created a new forum for discussion on the topic of Quixtar.

Why a new forum?
Well first of all I want to make it clear that this forum was not set-up to be a replacement or a competing forum with the Qblog Forum. Matter of fact I talked with Eric quite a bit before I even got the forum installed and he was the one who recommended the forum software I am using. However, with another forum comes more discussion on this topic and more discussion only leads to more information available about Quixtar and the motivational organizations.

Why announce it on Quixtar Blog?
Simple! Quixtar Blog draws more traffic then any other site with information about the Quixtar opportunity. Making an announcement here ensures that the word will get out much quicker. A quick thanks to Eric for letting me post this announcement.

Forum Differences
This forum is not a clone of the Qblog forums and has quite a few differences. First of all the software used for the forum is different and the discussion boards in the forum are different. There is also a debate hall set up for two members to request their own thread for debate where only those two members will be able to post, and a thread set up on another board for other members to comment on the debate.

Another feature is the ability to embed streaming audio and video into your posts, including Google and YouTube videos. Attachments are allowed in posts, and every board has it's own RSS feed so you can keep track of new posts from your favorite RSS reader.

There is also one board dedicated to Quixtar Testimonials only. A good spot for people to publish their Quixtar story for others to read without having to start their own site or blog.

One thing that will remain the same however is that this community will belong to it's members. Whether you are a supporter or critic of Quixtar you are more then welcome to sign-up and participate in the discussions. So I invite you to go on over to the forums today and sign-up.

To be honest, the Anti-Quixtar niche needs another forum like I need a hole in my head.

Maybe Jim Reed will come out of retirement to post, so that the admin. won't be talking to himself.

It's too bad that the Truth About Quixtar forum is so difficult to navigate. It would be interesting to see if Quixtar is really making a difference in reputation.

keeps out the rabble ;-)

Mind you, a quick google finds the forum software I'm using returns nearly a million hits, so apparently a few people manage to find there way around it. The forum isn't really the main purpose of my site anyway. It's just there so people can comment on articles if they want, but with a little effort required, preventing the kind of regular flamewars that happen in the comments on blogposts here. Entertaining though they might be :-)

AH, sorry Ty that I don't have more posts for you to read after only having announced it on my blog less then a week ago. But thanks for the kind words anyway!

Drew,

I don't mean to pick on you, but your blog has a grand total of 5 posts in December, including one Merry Christmas post and you have 2 posts on the Quixtar Blog this month, one of them is announcing your new forum.

Maybe it's none of my business, but I think your time would have been better spent posting at Quixtar Blog rather than creating a niche forum that is already filled by QBlog Forum.

Sure you meant to pick on me hence your comments, but no worries I have very thick skin. It's a bit hard to get sarcasm across in type sometimes though.

So let's see 7 total posts for December, and here I was thinking I was doing good for the month. I mean when I throw in my three very active boys, my full-time schedule, studying for certification tests, running a start-up business on the side, the volunteer work I do....well I think you get the point.

Not to mention all the time I spent this month getting the forum set-up. I don't know if you know this Ty, but those things don't come all configured to your specifications. There is the set-up of the actual forum boards, setting permissions, adding modifications, etc.

Now you could be right and I could just be wasting my time setting up this forum. However, I liked the idea of another forum with some differences like the ones I pointed out in my post.

I think what it comes down to Ty is what you and I blog for. You are about the money, you like your sites to produce an income and there is nothing wrong with that. I on the other hand blog to put my thoughts and opinions out there for others to read and hopefully someone gets something from it.

I suppose from a monetary standpoint my time would have been better spent just posting at the Quixtar Blog Forums. But, since I am only trying to help contribute, whether the forum I set-up gets used or not I think anytime someone sincerly tries to contribute something it was time well spent.

But again Ty, thanks for the comments.

keep it up drew!! i think it was a great idea to set up the forums. i have my own blog now also. it has nothing to do with quixtar, but slowly i am developing a loyal following. it took time. good luck to you. i'm not gonna give a link to mine. i find plenty of readers without having to pimp it around on every post i make (insider)

the kind of regular flamewars that happen in the comments on blogposts here

Uh...Isn't it because a lot more ppl come here than yours? You are still keeping Tex around?

That forum has RSS. awesome! I slightly disagree with Ty. Baron55 had some regular posters. This forum was still there. whataboutquixtar has some posters. This forum was still here. Different forum, different taste.

And true, blog posting is quite less. But I personally got bored. So I can relate. I may start again, depending the trigger.

Drew,

Obviously your site is also about money, or you wouldn't have so many Google Adsense ads all over it.

I blogged for a long time before I made any money blogging and I would continue blogging today even if I didn't make a penny.

It's just kind of sad to see this blog get 2 updates a month from you (one of them pimping your new forum)....that's all.

This blog serves a very nice niche and it would be nice to see it get updated more often.

Uh...Isn't it because a lot more ppl come here than yours? You are still keeping Tex around?

Uh, isn't it because I haven't enabled comments? You can't have a comment flamewar without comments, Imran. I've no idea what traffic this site gets, I'd assume it's more than my site, but I'm getting wayyy more traffic than I was expecting at this early stage.

Ty,

Don't take it so personal. I don't blog for money. I make no money from this site, and the Google Ads on my site serve to pay the bills. When I actually make enough from my Google Ads to pay the bills and have money left over the left over money will go into the marketing of my site.

I find it interesting though that you use the word "pimping" considering I have never offered "Advertorial" posts on my blog. I assume you clearly know what I am referring to.

Apparently you missed the part where I told you there was nothing wrong with making money from your blogs if that is what you want to do.

But since you seem to be so concerned with how I am spending my time I thought I would make it clear to you that since I am only in this to make contributions to this community, anytime I spend trying to contribute something whether it succeeds or fails is time well spent.

Thanks for your concerns though Ty, and it's nice to know you look forward to my posts so much.

It's just there so people can comment on articles if they want, but with a little effort required, preventing the kind of regular flamewars that happen in the comments on blogposts here. Entertaining though they might be :-)

You are not allowing comments to prevent "flamewars"?

Flamewars can happen in your forum too. Or anywhere where two ppl are talking.

?

Yes, but I'd prefer them to remain in the forums, which requires an extra step and registration. That still allows comments if people want to, but doesn't distract from the articles itself, and the extra step means more thought should go in to commentary, especially for visitors just passing through. Leads to less visitor contribution, but getting 200 comments on an article isn't why I did my site. Forums also mean the commentary remains more accessible. Commentary discussion here tends to die off pretty quick once an article is off the front page. I certainly don't monitor the old articles.

less visitor contribution

got it.

Forums also mean the commentary remains more accessible. Commentary discussion here tends to die off pretty quick once an article is off the front page.

"Commentary" can die in forums too. New threads are posted, old one goes down and down, unless they're made sticky. JoeCool does a great job bringing old threads up but I don't see how forum comments are less accessible.

But anyways, I've got my answer.

Im having problems with activation...hotmail wont show it -_-
