How Amway Does Sales

By Preston in Amway

I'm from Washington State - and am young. I had never heard of Amway until I joined Quixtar. From the first meetings I couldn't understand why people kept having to deflect criticism about being a cult. I didn't know where they came from. Thats why I have been so interested in Amway's advertising campaign, and just how closely they seem to tie with the gubernatorial race.

At any rate, I had to chuckle when I read, yet again, one more select quote that has so much in common with countless others. Amway's public perception campaign might go a little better if they extended it to Quixtar. After all, it is not like Alticor tries to hide the relationship, unlike other IBO's might try to dodge the question.

"The issue with Amway was never the quality of their products or the employees that make the products. It's the business practices and how they do their sales,"Sarpolus said.

Nothing can control more than total fear, except a strange hybrid of fear combined with love, only the equalization of both, dealt in appropriate situations can combat the natural defenses that the psyche will manifest. Fear overcomes the feeling of security over ones own knowledge and abilities. Love begets the feelings of comfort and observance. Dependent upon the thorough mix of the two in appropriate doses and upon the subjects resolve and fortitude, in a calculated time, total control of the subjects life will be attainable almost assuredly.

I think the above comment by Dawson says it all. Basically, that which depends upon either emotion or intellect is doomed to fail… even failure. Better by far to trust in the future.

had to double check after those two comments, thought I'd dropped in on some post-modernist blog with a couple of students having a toke ...

But to actually comment on the post.
(a) how did hawkins dodge the question? You have habit Preston of posting quotes that actually don't support what you are talking about

(b)Sarpolus doesn't quite have it right. it's not how Amway does it sales - how many people have actually had Amway try to sell them anything? Any image problem is entirely the responsibility of IBOs

Insider, you're supporting exactly what he said - Amway's trouble is with its sales method - ie IBOs.

mevi - add a "some" in front of the "IBOs" and we'll be in agreement :-)

As all IBOs are "independent", when I say "IBOs", I do not mean the lot of them.

That makes sense. Men are also independent. So when I say Men are stupid that of course doesn't mean the lot of them.

Insert "christian" or "jew" or "muslim" or "atheist" or "hispanic" or "black" or "american" or "australian" or whatever for "Men".

If you use a generic term, then you *are* casting aspersions on all. That is why languages have words like "some" "many" "most" "a few" etc etc.

That's interesting psycho mumbo jumbo, the funny thing is...

it sound eerily close to how my supervisor at work operates.

Another thing:

I just sold somebody a case of tea. I didn't use fear or love.

I just asked them if they liked Green Tea.

insider, better to toke than drink the purple kool-aid!!

Dude, this sounds like one of those boring psych/philosophy classes I had back in college! LOL

Not trying to be boring, I was just voicing some thoughts over how an organization might completely control members through fear and love.

Abusive relationships are often proxied in a similar manner. Fear coupled with strong love and belonging can anchor people into soul devastating situations that seem impossible to escape.

Its the love aspect that short circuits the flight mechanism in the brain that would ordinarily kick in and motivate a change.

I believe this to be pertinent to Quixtar practices.

I'm really not familiar with Quixtar, but I have certainly hear of Amway.

I have just become involved with ITV Ventures selling nutritional supplements and building a business.

What were the downsides to Amway and/or Quixtar? Upsides?

They'll turn on ya like a bunch of rabid dogs, if you don't do what they like/want, and STAY "PLUGGED IN". THAT's THE BOTTOM LINE! My wife and I experienced that confusion first hand back in 1979. They are brainwashed sick, money grubbin' evil, FOCUSED dumbies. That's why they are into promoting their politics. They are one in the same. The tapes and books have to be, concerning their brainwashing. Before we GOT PLUGGED IN, and got in to the thing, a fellow said to me, "They'll brainwash you". We only understood that later, when our money was exhausted, and had been placed in their big fat pockets. On product pick-up night, we use to hear TOM PAYNE talk about his plane, doing his dream buiding scam, over at David Benefield's house, whom Payne had personally indoctrinated. Makes me sick to think about all that crap. Don't get me going! We were in there when Setzer, Crisp, and all 'em were flying high. Shook hands with Yeager in Guntersville, AL., rode up an elevator with Richard DeVos, in Birmingham, Al, etc. I see now that most of 'em have crashed and burned, as they should, doing those things good honest people for thier benefit. People will reap what they sow, when deceiving others. I believed that then, and will believe it the rest of my life. Greed and lies will get back to ya and bite ya in the butt. Guaranteed! God doesn't lie, and get angey at you for not doing what he desires. Man/Woman will. Most of 'em THINK they are gods, and know what's best for you. In their little world. Where is that three headed monster now, anyway? Comedians don't even joke about it any more. It must be hiding somewhere. Concentrating their greedy efforts in other countries I bet. :)
