Definition of Insanity
By QBlog in Humor
The definition of insanity is continuing to claim that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results when no dictionary actually defines insanity that way.

Qblog,
It was Albert Einstein who originally coined that phrase. I think the MLM community just took over and ran with it because it sounded the same as being in a job that you really don't like, yet you continue to go there day in and day out.
The actual definition is:
1) A mental state where one can not tell the difference between reality and their imagination.
3) A type of behaviour where a person may act in a way that may be seen as "uncool" or "weird" (and doesn't care).
3) The only way to fly.
Source of that definition:

According to the "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" definition, wouldn't continuing to buy tapes, pay for functions, etc., year after year while losing more and more money and never quitting... well, wouldn't that be insanity?
Just sayin'. I never understood how they could dare co-opt that saying. It's a bit ironic, to say the least.
Michael got it right. That quote is from Albert Einstein.
Hardcore mathematicians often attack problems and theories the same way and end up getting the same results.
The irony is in the quote. Don't most IBO's spend years and years doing the same thing with the same results? But yet somehow the wiring in the brain doesn't make this connection when the pundits use it to bash J-O-B's.
Sequoia: yes, absolutely. If someone is doing the same thing over and over again without getting results, then that fits the saying too. But (a) very very very few IBOs do that and (b) if you're not getting results - then change what you are doing! Find out why you are not getting results, or (c) go do something else.
Jeff: About 70% of IBOs don't even renew after the first year, so how on earth can you claim "most IBOs spend years and years" etc?
Jeff,
I agree with you that quote swings both ways. However, the thing that we IBO's like to hammer on about the J.O.B. is the fact that in your J.O.B., you really can't make the changes you like to if somethings not right.
Where as being an IBO, if something's not right, fix it. And despite what many critic's think, if there's something you really don't like about the business, fix it. Make it right. It's your business, you can fix it, you can make it right.
Jeff your quote,
"Don't most IBO's spend years and years doing the same thing with the same results?"
YES. I will agree with you on that.
Most people go into this business with the same attitudes/work ethics yet they expect different results.
insanity
I bet you didn't know that 'gullible' isn't in the dictionary, either. See for yourself!
