In Their Own Words - 10
By Xanadustc in Their Own Words
Another from Chris Smith about where to find your names:
There is your wedding list. I have a couple on my team…who are getting married pretty soon. When they made their wedding list, more people popped into their brain to put on their real list. It’s just a natural thing. If you are married right now, go back to your wedding list. Now listen, they came to your wedding to eat free food. They owe you! I that’s a neglected thing that needs to be mentioned here. I had 250 people show up to eat chicken. They owe me.
Wedding List [MP3], PPS82; The Names List, Chris Smith
This is interesting. I thought that people show up to your wedding to show their support to you for your first steps into your new life. Why do they owe me? What happens if this gets followed to it’s logical conclusion?
Comments
The wedding presents should all be marked C.O.D.
Once again Quixtar thinking turns the entirety of life into a business to be exploited.
Friends, family and strangers are not to be looked at as people but instead they are a walking ATM that one can add to the "list".
It's a sad sad devaluing of human relationships, instead of enjoying the company of the people for who they are and the experience or situation at hand.
As an IBO with this mindset you have basically turned your life into a used car lot with you as the salesman, anyone that stumbles into your vision is a potential mark.
Money is great and all, but most people seem to miss that its a means to an end, not the end itself. Not that there is much money to really be had as an IBO.
As someone who recently got married, I've got to say...we didn't have a big meal...cake, candy, and nuts....
hehe...
(And the comments are still coming in about how great it was)
My lower jaw is still on the floor from the fall it took while reading the quote. What a turd!
what level is this guy qualifying at? They owe him?? Build a business with that kind of attitude and it won't stick around for long.
ahh, but then I listen to the mp3 and hear everyone laughing when he said it ... it apparently wasn't said seriously.
What a great opportunity to show the plan! Then you could deduct the whole wedding as a business expense!
A Wedding isn't so bad. My upline once got edified because he prospected and eventually sponsored someone he met at a FUNERAL!
Hmmm... I listened to that clip over and over -- hear the very short laughter -- but also notice Mr. Smith's tone stays quite serious and direct even after the laughter.
He meant what he said.
Disgusting.
(Dawson already said what I would have said...nice bit about the used car lot, very visually evocative.)
My Husband's best man was in our LOS and he actually started the toast at the reception with "I'm sponsored by." I was mortified! It was a contacting frenzy by all of our crossline friends who were invited. I was totally embarrased. I couldn't have one day that didn't revolve around Quixtar.
Many IBOs pre-judge ppl. Better point speaker could make was how come your wedding list is bigger than ur prospecting list? Those ppl know you enough to come to your wedding, why not see if the want to see the plan?
* I know, doing business with friends / relatives is not the best idea. Other than running a 711 store ;)
** To invite ppl to the wedding, u say "please come to my wedding". You don't invite them for a casual dinner and start wedding. Similary in the plan, invite ppl to see the plan. No hanky panky.
Good point Imran. I remember I was in college, a friend invited me over for beer and BBQ. I get to his house and he's wearing a suit and the Amway meeting starts. My friend justified
it by saying we could have a beer after the meeting. During the meeting I was quite upset. To be polite I did not make a scene and walk out.
Hey, Joe, did you at least get the promised barbecue up front, or was your friend afraid to get sauce on his tie?
They owe you (!)
What a joke. In any real business, if I want to buy a car from my friend who sells cars, I wouldn't tell him to give me the lowest of low prices because he was at my wedding.
What a bunch of morons. No wonder people get so mad at Amway/Quixtar. To many people with their heads in the clouds and not enough with morals, respect for others and dignity like Dave Robison.
Anyhoo, Mikey's off the hook. This wedding thing being invaded by Amway/Quixtar is worse than bothering people at boat shows.
We were encouraged to get our college alumni directory and find people who graduated about the same time we did and tell them we were in class with them(we both went to big schools) and act like we knew them and try to STP them!
Whew!
I'm free at last! I know this is not the appropriate blog entry to put this but I had to let the world know!
It's a funny thing. This is actually my 3rd attempt at quitting. My best friend got me into this business and since he was always a sensible guy and business-oriented, I trusted him. But being the lazy college student that I am I never really did the research. I guess that's why new IBOs are encouraged to go after their 'A' list first, people who trust them and who would not quit due to the guilt trip that would ensue.
Another funny thing, quitting took 3 phone conversations that spanned 1 hour and 30 minutes. First I called him and told him exactly why I want to quit and all the negative aspects that I saw in this business. He then said "I'll call you back in a bit". Same thing with the second phone call, making me repeat what I said before except this time making me feel like a quitter. For example, "Do you think this is too much work for you? You can't give up bowling or hanging out for a couple of months?" The thing that surprised me most though, the thing that pushed me over the edge and gave me the conviction to quit was what he told me after the recent function. He said: "You are not going anywhere, you need to give your full conviction to this business. I will help you build a solid team within the next few months if you are dedicated and work with me. Can you do that? Also, I noticed that you are taking 18 hours next semester, maybe you should cut that down to 15 or 12. I don't want you to get overwhelmed."
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? I knew right then and there that I have lost my friend. The only thing I really regret now is that he has my list that I gave him once to look over (that and all the money I "invested" in the overpriced merchandise).
Speaking of weddings, I believe my ex-bf contacted me during the wedding we met at. Looking back, I doubt he asked for my number and email because he had enjoyed my company so much. Although I must admit I my charm is very near irresistible. :D

I was told that too. I was even told to contact people I wasn't even friends with in school, or people who didn't even graduate the same year! (How awkward would that be?!) Thankfully, I never did anything like that.
prospecting at weddings and funerals... wow... I could think of some movie sequels: "Wedding Crashers II: Show The Plan", "Another Four Weddings and a Funeral: how to get twelve wide in one week"
FreeAtLast,
Congrats on waking up! Isn't it nice to see the light after a while of not seeing? I am confident that you did the right thing to achieve your dreams and goals. You certainly won't accomplish anything feeding the wealth machine of the Upline, and if you got to that point, think of all the people that would be feeding you.
I canny remember if I already said this this week. But our suggested list included ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends as "memory joggers"
One awful techique we were told was to arrange for kitchen and double glazing sales people to come to your home, pretending that you're interested and then hit them with the plan as and when you could.
Ludicrous.
I love Amway. It attracts the scum of the earth!
Ah yes, Rocket - I remember the "boat show" discussion many moons ago here on the blog.
What fun that was.
I have my own comment to mkae about Amway/quixstar comment.
My father jumped the gun when he bought the "kit". Which by the way he was told was fully refundable.
When my father realized this and wanted out, he wanted to get his money back fo rthe "kit" (then 200$ CDN) he was told, "we can cancel your membership but you have to keep the products"
Hows that for money-back guarantee,
Marc,
That must be the upline speaking? Quixtar should honor the moneyback guarantee as long as it is within the time period. When I was in, it was a one year, then they cut it down to 6 month, now I think it is 3 month...interesting
***I’m really sorry this is so long, but it covers pretty much all of the things I’ve been wanting to say, and I’m going to post this on several blogs.***
I am a 19-year-old college student, and I've only been in the business for about a month and a half. I've been doing extensive research about Quixtar since before I signed up because I like to think of myself as a "brain." I always like to be really knowledgeable about whatever I'm involved in (I’d like to say that I researched with an open mind, but initially I aired more on the side of skepticism than neutral). Quixtar, as far as I have found through the pages and pages of online resources I've seen, is legitimate as a company and is a really good company at that. The only negativity I have encountered (AT ALL) has come from blogs and sites dedicated to pointing out the business's flaws. I'm not saying that sites such as this and others as well as the dozens and dozens of blogs out there aren't helpful. I'm sure many of the things said on those sites are said with passion and belief and a desire to save people from getting involved in something before they know what it is and find them selves hundreds and thousands of dollars in debt. And I’m sure that a lot of those things are true and that people feel taken advantage of. However, the system works the way the company says it will. I have yet to come across any truly credible source (the FTC, the BBB, the IRS, etc.) that have anything worse to say than: “it meets all of our regulations, but people should be truly aware of what they’re getting into before they start.” If you are able follow what THE COMPANY says (which isn’t that hard) you will make money, and you will make the amount they say you will. Plus, 28+ legal tax write-offs you can receive are great. And, contrary to what many believe, it can’t be a pyramid because it is possible to make more money than your upline (…and there are other qualifications for being a pyramid for which Quixtar doesn’t meet).
There are scripts to use when calling people or “contacting” people when you’re out, but I’m going to stop using them because I’d much rather be straight-forward, as I know that the system works. We use scripts and beat around the bush (saying we’re with “Snipes & Associates”—which is true to some extent, since Danny Snipes is our upline), seldom saying the Q-word because of sites like this. People go home and Google “Quixtar,” read blogs and take what they read as biblical truth. I’m going to stop that because, not only do I feel guilty for “tricking” people into being shown the plan, but they take whatever I say from then-on with less credibility.
Unfortunately this is a people business. And with people (in all walks of life) come competition, corruption, and greed (especially when a great deal of money is involved). The more people that are involved in something the more you will see some trying to take advantage of others. I won’t deny, therefore, that there are people out there who will take advantage of the “little guy” or that there are sponsors out there who will do or say anything to get people to sign up under them. They will do anything to get you to buy more products than necessary (so that they will see more PV) or OVERLY stress that you need to buy CDs, books, attend meetings and functions, etc. or say something like “Tools are optional, but so is success.”
FORTUNATELY my upline is nothing like this. They SUGGEST that I buy only household necessities from the site (stuff that I buy anyway) because the prices compare quite well with Wal-Mart and other stores plus I get a 30% discount, PV, and 3% of my BV back. Also, it saves on gas and the huge amount of impulse shopping my family is accustomed to doing. So I do that, and my parents and older sister buy from me as well. I also buy products I enjoy anyway such as the XS Energy drinks, Zenso teas, Double X, and products included in the Trim Advantage Weight-Loss System. These are all products that are so good that I would continue to buy even if I weren’t an IBO. I’ve been trying for so long to lose weight, and the TA System is the best out there hands-down because it creates a lifestyle change, and it’s not just a diet. My doctor agrees that it is the best program. It’s SO easy to follow. The XS and Double X give me the energy and daily nutrients I need to function (plus the fastest man in the world, Asafa Powell, takes Double X, and it helped him achieve that status). So yeah, the products are good.
My upline also SUGGEST that I listen to CDs and read books for personal growth, but they let me borrow their CDs and books and suggest that if I can’t get a book from them I should go check one out from the library or sit in a book store and read it. These books have helped me grow so much as a person. These are books unrelated to business and (even more so) Quixtar. The CDs help me business-wise and with everything I try to do (school, church, etc.).
I have developed relationships with my upline for up to nine levels. I know them on first-name bases and have most of their cell phone numbers. From what I have seen from my upline, the business works. There is money to be made, and I can see it. Two couples have quit their jobs completely (one man owned 2 of his own businesses which were successful, but he wasn’t happy and he walked away), and two other couples have one spouse that is able to stay at home all day with their children. I have been so fortunate to belong on the team I do because I’ve developed friendships. We have cookouts, go out to eat, watch movies, sit around and talk, laugh, play games, etc.
I think Quixtar wants all teams to be more like this. It would have a much better reputation if this were the case. Again, this is a people business. It’s meant to change lives in a positive way, and it can be done if done the right way. We are not encouraged to look at people as “dollar signs” or as potential IBOs… at least my team isn’t. We are encouraged to keep an eye out for people looking for other means of income (although most people don’t achieve it, the potential amount of income involved is truly great), check interest, and go on with life. “Either they’re looking or they aren’t,” one of my team members says.
Also, I went to my first function last weekend. I really couldn’t call it a “brainwashing seminar.” Maybe some felt “brainwashed.” I don’t know. I just felt enlightened, motivated, and refreshed. When I got home, people just said I seemed to be in a better mood. My business hasn’t “taken off,” (although it could have) because I’m more focused on school right now but I have been doing much better in school since I got home and have been more focused on whatever I’ve done, making sure it’s positive and geared toward helping my future.
Just a tip for IBO's: XS ENERGY DRINKS SELL THEMSELVES. I’m sharing this because I’ve been doing it at team meetings and open meetings and have been told that my saying this really helps a lot of people. Have a can in your hand all the times (even if it’s empty). People ask about it. Tell them all the facts, and they’ll want one, especially if they’re in college or work a really exhausting job or if you already know that they drink energy drinks. Give them the nutrition facts. Explain that you don’t experience a sugar crash with these, and tell them how long the energy lasts. Also make note of the fact that it’s the #1-selling energy drink in the US and it’s #2 world-wide right behind Red Bull. **IF POSSIBLE, HAVE ONE ON YOU AT ALL TIMES FOR OTHERS TO TRY** Once they try it, you have a new customer. It’s the truth. And, more importantly, you probably just changed someone’s life for the better (health-wise and the amount of things they can get done per day).
Marc & Xan,
The money-back guarantee (of which Quixtar is very proud) is 180 days or 6 months whichever way you want to call it. Marc, have your dad call the company and he should be able to get a full refund if it's within the 180 day period.
Regarding the original post, I think what Chris was quoted as saying was absurd. That was a statement out of Chris' mouth, NOT all IBO's mouths! We LOVED our wedding & had over 300 people attend (wedding & dance combined). It is completely separate from the biz! And people attend to SUPPORT the marriage & relationship and to show their love for you.
As far as making lists, the primary reason the upline suggests these lists is to "expand" people's minds.
The problem is, because of some old "scam-way" people and "quix-scam" people who run their businesses unethically, the entire organization has gotten a really bad rep. Therefore, upline assumes to approach people with skepticism & a "secretive" approach. It's ridiculous.
This is a fair, honest & real business opportunity. If we have family members, friends, neighbors, fellow church go-ers, old school chums, acquaintances, etc. who express to us that they are looking for another opportunity, or one spouse wants to be home with the kids, or they want to get out of debt, then.......
it only makes sense that we share what we have found! It's that simple.
The "lists" simply help us to open our minds on who to speak to.
Sally
If anyone wants to comment on anything I said, my email is mjhuff86@hotmail.com. Feel free... esp. if you feel you know something I don't know. Again, I am a college student with little money or time to WASTE on this if it's definitely going to hurt me. I've done extensive research and feel okay with it, but I've never heard anything "out of the horse's mouth" (so to speak) that is worse than, "I quit because I wasn't motivated enough to do the work," or, "It was just a bad time," etc. So please let me know if I've missed something in my research.
It's really unfortunate that ANYONE said something like that to FreeAtLast. That's truly horrible, and only reaffirms parts of my "sermon," well, extremely long rant. People get greedy and crash weddings, funerals, graduations, etc. and tell people that they should quit or cut back in school. But again, it's people, and not the mentality, I believe, that Quixtar as a company endorses or encourages. It's supposed to be an alternative, not a rule. And I think it's so stupid when I hear people say that people who aren't in the business are dumb or unmotivated. I guess it's just how you look at it. For me, this business is just an alternative; not "do it or you're an idiot." I'd rather build my business slow over years than behave as some of the people you all are talking about.
There are also people in the business who believe that if you don't identify yourself as a Conservative, Republican, "Christian", right-wing extremist, Bush-supporter or any other words involved therein you won't be successful. That type of thinking is the only thing that almost made me quit. I'm a Democrat--an avid one at that. I believe what I believe so strongly. And I have beliefs and morals that I don't see in some of the "Christians" in this business. They'll say anyone can do this, but I've heard of teams that wouldn't accept someone because they were homosexual or because they weren't Christian... The hypocracy is sickening, but it's everywhere.. not just in Quixtar. It's crazy, but just something else that hurts the company's reputation.
Sally:
Interesting how you say "some" people got scammed. I think theres a whole lot more than "some". So what if a complaint was made to quixtar or not about it. They are getting their products sold and that's really what matters isn't it? Do you think Q/S really cared GOW they get their products sold? And at the time the internet wasn't what it was today, even tho we often referred to it as "network marketing".
Something else thats totally interesting is that when we were shown the plan (and I've seen quite a few of these plans, they look (what's the word? AWESOME on paper), we were told there was no selling neccessary, but now people claim, after 15 years or so, that you NEED to do a bit of retailing to keep your business aflaot. Do they mention this BEFORE you sign up now?
Lin:
You are correct that its the "mentality" of the quixtar biz people. Yes "some" IBO's and that is only individuals, but when you listen to something long enough you start to beleive it.
This is especially true when you are "plugged in" I have friends that aren't very big in the business yet, but yet they spit out "tapespeak" just like I rememebr when my family was in the biz.
Whats the word for that? Oh yeah Subliminal Messaging. Listen to enough tapes, read enough books, and it erodes your own personal thinking (possibly even your values?)
What happens if the upline will talk, get you to agree on some points with him. You will tend to trust and give this upline credibility. That's when they feed you some stuff that may not quite be true but many will believe it as trust was established.
And it's where the "tapespeak" often comes from.
I do not like to argue because if you argue, your point will never get across. I'm feeling a need for some people skills that most Successful people in any area of life usually have people skills. If you try to pick at someone else's view and slam it in their face it usually doesn't work. You may have proven a point, but they are still of the same persuation.
Why is quixtar the largest multi-level marketing business if it supposeably doesn't work? If it doesnt work why do people get in. Why are you not slamming other in your words "pyramids" who hae the same. Simply because of the success we are seeing we are turing heads. I'm not trying to slam you and I'm not calling you dream stealers or naughty names. I feel you need to have an open mind. Honestly you can not get a feel for our organization without truely getting to know the people. From what I'm seeing is people of integrety and honesty.
I am part of a fun loving, money making organization that has seen people go from 0-7500 in 7 months. Now properly structured you can make some significant income. I know a guy personally who is 24 and just graduated college with a Business degree and didn't have a job while in school and stepped out of school without one too. He paid cash for his tuition to a state school and I have seen his cash personally from his Quixtar income. I have seen his checks and I know it works. Yet I've seen him from when he didn't make so much at first. Financially free by the age of 24 is pretty good. Now. I have also seen his downline have success, I have seen my mentor's mentor go from a couple hundred a month to a couple thousand a month. I have seen My upline Diamond go from Emerald to Diamond in 2 years. I have seen their home. I have been watching close and been very skepical at first. But with all the success why not dive in head first? Especially when my sponsor was someone I knew before the business and she wouldn't do anything to hurt me? Also. Why is it a sin to make money from those who also make money? Also What is your job like? Does the owner of the company make money off of you? God forbid that to happen.
I Thank God everyday that I decided to get started. My personal developement in people skills have improved and my relationships have improved. I used to be a mouse of a woman now I'm a woman of strength. And its hard at first, but every great endever is. I'm asking you from a Christian and Success principal side. Please keep your eyes open and don't rule out the possiblity that some people love our business. Quixtar gives so much back to the community and the IBOs themselves are (for the most part) people of integrety and accountibity. Think how much Quixtar gave to Tsunami Victoms and September 11th tragity. Then on top of that how much the actual IBOs gave. You ought to look that up. Yes ONE rotton apple can ruin the whole basket as well as a couple. Some people succeed some don't that is mostly thier own doing. We can try to help them along the way. But we will not waste our time with someone who doesn't want help. The upline is like a friend that has been through the mine field before. They know what works and what doesn't EVERY starts at 0. No one steps into a business with people already lined up. NO ONE has the mentality of a Diamond when they get started. No one. Myself included. I'll admit to some faults, and every business does. I do not like argueing and IBOs stay away from here because it's like fighting with a stone post with your bare hands (you like the midwestern farmer humor?) YOu can't beat a limestone rock with your fist and expect it to win. As my mom always said "Your like argueing with a stonepost" I don't know where these so called "FACTS" come into play other than the opions of people who have failed in their own network. I apoligize for your failure, but that doesn't mean everyone fails. I real winner would have stuck it out. Did you read success principal books? Maybe your additude needed to change. I do not want to bash you cause I see a greatness inside of you that can be drawn out. We are in a business of building people up, not tearing people down. I'm sorry that your ego is so big you have to downplay what is truely a awesome business. The way I see it, if there is so much negitive online and what not, why still does Quixtar thrive? Why do people grab ahold of this thing and it changes their lives? Why do people even if they quit..like my friend, she decided to go into missions? Why are people drawn to us? Maybe because there is a much greater power at work than pv and bv and uplines and tools. Maybe there is a greater picture that you will see maybe in time. I'm not sold out to my upline, I'm not sold out to my business, I'm sold out to my heavenly Father. Which I have fasted and prayed and I truely believe this business is Ok. What is wrong with lifting people up? What is wrong with helping people? What is wrong with getting rich and giving the money away? Nothing. Forget the pv, and bv. Lay waste the money (which by the way is pretty good) :) And look deeper into yourselves. I truely believe you are searching to fill an emptiness inside yourself that a business, nor money, nor ego can fill. Stop bashing and look at the real people behind this business.
If our business was bogus, Why are 60% of the fortune 500 companies involved with us? I'm pretty sure they do some deep research to see if our business is legimate. Consider the real facts This is not a moment, this is a movement. And we are setting the people free in thier finances, their mind, and their spiritual lives. I would truely like to meet you and see what kind of greatness I can draw out of you.
Lin,
Keep doing what you are doing and you will be a diamond.
Emily,
No one says IBOs are bad people. I'm sure most are hardworking, ambitious and courteous.
The problem is the system. Do 100 PV, get $8 from quixtar.
In the meantime, spend money on website, KATE, cds, books, tapes, seminars, gas. = $100 to $200.
This means the average 100 PV IBO will lose money and these very IBOs probably make up the majority of IBOs.
How is this a good business opportunity?
Do you know that 9 out of 10 businesses fail in their first year? In any conventional business average people do not succeed. I promise you that our percentage of those who succeed are much more than those in conventional businesses. I agree if ALL you do is do 100 points and All you do is Buy tapes and all you do is attend things, you will not succeed.
Did you show the plan 3-5 times a week? Did you develope customers? (I simply leave my product out on my desk wheather it be a can or bottle and people ask about it I give then a sample and they want to buy some Its that simple) Did you sponsor 12? Did you teach what you have learned? Did you do your own volume to set an example to your team to do their volume? Did you actually read and listen to suggestions that your upline knows works and what doesn't? Did you counsel, did you have a GAMEPLAN? Did you build with Integrity and accountiablity?
Those steps you mentioned about 100pv and tapes are only 2 of the recipe of success. (which are outlined on tapes, so if you want more info on the recipe of success go listen to a tape)
The main point is. Not everyone is going to succeed. I made it clear that it is up to the Independant Business Owner, they are not Dependant Hobby Owners. You can't assume that if you buy tapes/cd/books and not listen or not read them...and even if you do listen/ read and NOT APPLY them, then you are truely not worthy of calling yourself someone who truely did what it takes.
I'll have to be the first to admit that this business is not for everyone, but it can be if you are will to do the work. It's not a get rich quick, its a get rich quicker than than your day job. (only if you apply what you learn in books/cds/tapes)
Knowlege is the accumulation of information, Wisdom is the Application of Knowledge. Why not get Wise? If you spend money on these books and tapes and you don't apply them than that is your own fault. Are you seriously trying to Blame your failure on the cds and tapes that you refused to apply to your work ethic?
Quixtar doesn't gaurentee your financial independence nor the business team. Your day job doesn't either. But your day job (in most corporate arena) Tells you if you go to work be diligant kiss the right butts and some day you will be big in the company. At least that's the mentality. How many people really make it to be the CEO of a company?
People know that not everyone can be the CEO of a company. This business is different Everyone can apply the work ethic to become a diamond, but not everyone will. THAT IS THEIR OWN FAULT.
There are many athelets who work their butts off and get to the Olympic trials, then from there the olympics. I call that a major accomplishment. But not everyone is willing to put forth the WORK to become an Olympic Athlete, Does that make those people any less special? They still acheive a level of success just by applying that work ethic.
Quixtar nor the business team does not gaurentee your success, but can lead you on the path to success if you are willing to put forth the effort and are teachable and coachable. Your chances of reaching successful levels are more likely than if you want to do it all on your own. That is the value of the team and the tapes and Cds. The team, tapes, cds are your coaches that have your best interests in mind.
I, before starting my business had read many success principal books, I have read many since as well. You can't argue with people like Dale Carnegie (How to win friends and Influence people), or Nepoleon Hill (Think and grow Rich), or Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad Poor Dad). Upon others I can name. These are New York Times Best sellers. The diamonds and Emeralds simply use the principals found in those books as well as Morals and Ethics found in the bible to teach their orgainzation. Can you argue with these principals?
I gaurentee the authors of those books will commend the "system" and team of PEOPLE who apply these principals. Why do you have a problem with success principals found on tapes?
You can not blame quixtar for your failure, you simply didn't apply yourself with disipline and the willingness to stick it out. I thank God I did. I promise you every single tool paid for itself once someone goes Emerald.
You shouldn't have quit your day job.
Your sales skills would be very beneficial in other areas.
The copy & paste script express keeps chugging along!!!
Emily said:
Do you know that 9 out of 10 businesses fail in their first year?
Really. Do you know that? Please give us some proof of that statement.
Don't bother. That statement has already been debunked several times on this website.
As opposed to 99.99% of quixtar businesses fail?
if a thousand people say something foolish, it is still foolish. I suppose if I quit, I would try to blame it on somebody or something else too.
umm...jake...all your IBOs are saying foolish things...it is still foolish from their mouth as well and fankly, the critics have used far more reliable facts than the mantra's of the IBOs.
I am not blaming other people for my problems, I am exposing the true facts that are behind the scenes, which is why people like you get nervous about these sites and try to tell everyone that we are broke losers... I am not broke, nor am I loser.
Quixtar certainly exceeds the 9 out of 10 businesses fail in the first five year mark. 50% of all IBO's quit within their first year, and 67% quit every year! Do the math, and see how many are left after 5. By the way, source is Quixtar itself.
If you also look at the Small Business Association site, you will also see that 40% of all businesses with associates (employees) actually survive past the 5 year mark. And even this number is low, because many businesses are sold and are still in existance, even if the original owner is no longer there. The reality is that if you start a business that is large enough to have employees, you stand a 2 in 5 chance of still owning it after 5 years, and probably over a 50% chance of it still being in existance after 5 years. What brings the number to 90% of all businesses fail within the first 5 years are Schedule C, single propieter businesses, such as IBO's and other salespeople who often don't last more then 1 or 2 years.
And for Emily. It's one thing to regurgitate stats, statistics, and other snippets your upline spews. But I suggest you verify. Go online and see if what they say is the absolute truth? The 90% of all businesses fail myth is quite easy to debunk.
Emily,
Just for clarity--that's principles, not principals. You're mixing up ideas and authority figures, which pretty much describes the quixtar/amway system.
Lets not forget the main question asked by Emily:
"Did you show the plan 3-5 times a week? Did you develop customers?... Did you sponsor 12? Did you teach what you have learned? Did you do your own volume to set an example to your team to do their volume? Did you actually read and listen to suggestions that your upline knows works and what doesn't? Did you counsel, did you have a GAMEPLAN? Did you build with Integrity and accountiablity?"
Also did you apply a proper work ethic? This questions are aimed at anyone who says Quixtar doesn't work. I have no idea who those people are, but I'm just gathering information.
The way I see it, if you didn't follow ALL of Emily's "recipe of success" taught by her upline, then you weren't so called "CORE".
If you can't say that you Honestly did ALL these things to the T ...than I'm not sure I would believe a testimony like yours. (whoever is out there)
I'm not accusing, but just want to know. Trying to gather all the information that I can.
Thanks
Just Gathering,
Yes, there are many, MANY people out there who've done ALL the steps and lost a lot of money.
DH was in when CORE was only 8 steps (I dont' remember what the newest one is), and he showed over 1000 plans. THIRTY or so got in. Market is too savvy in the USA. Maybe if you're not in the US, saturation hasn't taken place and you could make some jack.
But the people under you will eventually run into the same problem, and you'll spend the rest of your AmQuix days bailing a sinking ship.
It seems that those who are IBOs have a great thought process that I'm attracted to. Rather than choosing little things to pick at they genuninely explain what's going on.
It seems like the non-Ibos, or x-IBOs choose things to pick at that don't matter. Like for example :
"Just for clarity--that's principles, not principals. You're mixing up ideas and authority figures, which pretty much describes the quixtar/amway system"
Kind of immature If you ask me.
But I would say that people need to research those stats regurgitated by thier upline. Try using a Library or something because you never know...anyone can put up a website. Just because it's writen doesn't mean it's true.
I'm sure Emily was comparing quixtar to any conventional business which makes sence. I've heard a stat that a great deal of businesses fail their first year. Mostly because of the lack of front end capital and knowlege/experience. I've heard, (but don't quote me on this) that it took Amazon.com about 8 or 9 years to turn a profit, not sure on that it's up to you to see if it's true.
But even if it was 4 years...I think you could (from the way it sounds) that an IBO could make a profit fairly quickly if the work ethic is applied.
Then again, with Lin being a 19 year old college student probably didn't do a lot of research beforehand because like most college students think "extra money" and run for it. (I would too)
She does sound like she did good research though, she is very clear on most her points.
Joecool and truebeliever and dmm need some people skills. (like Emily said on her first sermon) and Joecool, 99.9% of quixtar/amway people obviously don't fail cause I've heard their's quite a few of them. Also heard quite a few quit.
But I have heard that the more you fail, if you get back up you probably will succeed. (If you fail once try try again) With proper research on that. But then again "If you do the same thing over and over again you can't expect different results" I don't know you decide, I'm done. I've seen enough.
PS. "Just gathering Infomation" If you are going to be on for a while, you probably shouldn't pick sides, make your decision and get out before either the IBO or the x-IBO eat you alive. :)haha
Bye bye now.
- Unsure
"People skills" also include communicating in a clear and intelligent and competent fashion. If you're going to show the plan ten times a week, you'd better know how to communicate.
And sorry, but it is so easy to take cheap shots on here sometimes. Mea culpa. My bad.
Unsure, at plans, they often will introduce a diamond as the top one tenth of one percent in the country in income, or .01. And we know that unless you are in that level, you probably aren't making the big bucks.
Therefore, 99.99% of quixtar businesses are not making it.
Just using stats that Quixtar itself provides, about 1 in 240 IBO's reach the platinum level, and less then 1 in 14,000 IBO's reach diamond. 50% of all IBO's quit in the first year, and 67% of IBO's quit every year. The average active IBO makes about $115/month. To me, those don't sound like successful numbers.
People skills are great when you are running a business. But when analyzing a business, people skills don't matter. Numbers do. Businesses exist to profit, and no matter how you slice it, Quixtar isn't profitable for the majority of the participants. If it were, the average income would be higher, and the quitting rate significantly lower.
"...it took Amazon.com about 8 or 9 years to turn a profit..."
They claim loss AFTER paying their employees and owners tons of money and stock options. Heck, I'll take millions of business loss any time if I'm making billions in capital gain.

Why not be more than average?
No one said it was easy. Any great endevor requires someone to be more than average.

I totally Agree!
I'm sure the guy that went diamond last year that took 20 years to get to diamond probably made all his loss back. Heck I'll take thousands of business loss any time if I'm making millions in capital gain.
Unsure,
"Why not be more than average?"
I think DMM's point is that above average people find a better business opportunity. Above average people can distinguish between profitability or a lack thereof.

Well said.
By the way, if you are "UNSURE" about this business, you should walk away and find something you can be sure about.
Chicken? What a cheap bastard!
