Head On

Neither do I.
Mevi, seriously, u watched it 3 times :) Are you still an IBO :)
Interesting...I would think only 'CORE' IBOs wouldn't 'get' this because they don't have time or shouldn't be watching TV!! This has got to be the dumbest commercial on TV!! I think including it here is hillarious!
Makes me think about people doing stupid/inane things without thinking about it just because someone else says to do it or because everyone else is doing it.
Anyone else?
I still don't get it, or understand your comments...why is this funny?
Mevi,
I don't think you understand that you're supposed to apply Head On directly to the forehead.
I'm with Mevi and Rara - I'm not getting it.
Unless - this is an instructional DVD that comes with the product. Is there an '800' number for additional assistance? That might be fun to call...
I laugh every time I see this one.
I think it's a matter of taste in humor. I love British humor the best, so maybe that's the key?
I really can't explain why I love it.
Are you giggling at the repetition of the instructions?
Its an advertising technique to establish branding while also describing the product. Repetition of information and tones helps create a mental 'lock'. For example, if you heard me say "HeadOn", you'd probably have the "Apply directly to your forehead" replayed in your head with the tone of the guy on the advert.
OKay, maybe my humor is totally out of kilter, but what makes it funny to me is: I hear an invisible Beavis and Butthead saying, "Uh, he said "headon".
Here's a commentary on the commercial and product by Brian Unger (formerly of the Daily Show, recently guest-hosted for Keith Olbermann on Countdown on MSNBC). It sheds more light on the darn product.

He has some other pretty funny commentary on mostly silly things on NPR:

I HATE THIS COMMERCIAL!!! We have the news on in our office all day and they keep playing this stupid thing over and over!
Your commercial is very iritating! It doesn't tell you what the product is for...........sinus problems, headace, hormonal imbalance what!
Please be more specific!
Well - a very cleverly made advert - that appeals to some people as humour and some people as dumb - The advert has done its job and the band of marketing has got the a lot of people talking about it.
Pros
1) The advert is very short and low cost.
2) A repetitive style of the word "head-on" - often to remind people when the word is repeated in other situations in reality.
3) Semi treating there audience as low intelligent listeners via the use of the term “must be applied directly to the forehead while other people see this as humour because its treats people as low intelligent.
4) No full description of the product but gives enough clues that it’s a headache cure, (also makes people ask about what it’s all about).
Cons
1) Repeated to much can tend to annoy its audience.
I'm glad they don't make Viagra! I can see it now . . .
HardOn, apply directly to the crotch
HardOn, apply directly to the crotch
HardOn, apply directly to the crotch
(I already feel blindness coming on)
I watched it 3 times...I don't get it.
