Quixtar Sales Tax

By Xanadustc in Quixtar

A while back, I did a post where the issue of sales tax was brought up. There seems to be some controversy over this point, so I figured we might clear it up.

First, all this can be found on the Quixtar site if you have a password. What follows are a few things from the 26 page [PDF file] from Quixtar.

In summary, an IBO is charged sales tax on the retail price on products for the region you are in. If you sell an item to another tax jurisdiction, you are required to collect all the differing sales tax and send it to Quixtar with a Tax Adjustment form.

If you use an item yourself, you have the must fill out the form and get your difference back.

Some may suggest that this is optional, but the document clearly states on page one:

YOU MUST FILE A SALES TAX ADJUSTMENT FORM WHENEVER YOU SHIP OR DELIVER PRODUCTS TO A DIFFERENT TAXING LOCALITY AND/OR YOU SELL AT ADIFFERENT AMOUNT THAN SUGGESTED RETAIL.

The only exception listed regarding this rule is if a customer pays for the item with a credit card directly from the corporation, Quixtar will charge correctly based on the shipping address of the customer.

What kinds of sales are covered by this rule?

  1. Sales made to other states.

  2. Different local sales taxes in the same state.

  3. Retail sales not made at suggested retail.

  4. Products for personal use or demonstrations.

  5. A sale made after a change in sales tax if you purchased the product from Quixtar before the change took place.

Are you filling out proper paperwork for your business?

I fill out the paperwork when applicable INCLUDING getting my "difference".

I have always advised other IBOs to do this as well. It's just good business.

Dave

I asked my upline double eagle (the same one who told front-load products for his upline's silver qual) about it and he told me not to worry about it...I knew something wasn't right. He said it didnt matter until you got platinum or more, and planted another large "BS" flag in the ground right next to him

Dave,

I truely wish that all of the IBO's did that. You have always built this business right, keep it up.

As for me, I found out about it reading the manual. I asked the upline and he said that the Emerald says it is a waste of time filling out the papers.

Xan,

The best rule of thumb I can offer to any new IBO is to thoroughly read the Rules of Conduct. You can start your business on the Rules alone and never mess up.

Dave,

Your comments about reading the rules. All I can say is AMEN, AMEN, AMEN and oh yeah AMEN!

You are a perfect example as to why I don't have issue with Quixtar the business.

Ditto on being taught by the upline "not to bother with the forms". It went something like this: "while you are wasting an evening filling out those forms to get a few pennies back, I'm out STP'ing and building me a bright future. No one became a millionaire on a retail tax refund. Stay broke if you want...". Well, it was close to that. :-)

I have filed sales tax each period it's applicable, and it was under guidance of upline platinum as well as rules of conduct. It seems we have an issue of just bad sponsors/uplines. A few examples either side just proves certain people are the "dishonest" part, the business in its inanimate design is not.

Furthermore, sales tax is mentioned in the business reference guide, which is available without a login, at: http://www.quixtar.com/Documents/IWOV/VIS/010-EN/PDF/compendium.pdf clarifying sales tax liscences and need for further information (forms) on quixtar site or calling the number provided.

so for all passers-by: read the rules first! It's your business, take responsibility.

Xan,

With all of the things that suck with this business all you could find to bark about was the sales tax forms? As a Founders Ruby the difference didn't amount to enough to earn minimum wage on the time it took to account for the sales and fill out the paperwork.

Must have been a slow day at the blog...

Umm, George,
Do you have issues? I am not a mindless idiot. As I stated, ther ehas been debate over this point, so I brought it up. I intentially left out any 'negative' (as System IBOs would call it) just to see who are the discriminating ones...you lost the test.

George,

With all of the things that are great with this business all you could do is bark at one of the authors. As a Founders Ruby you should have better people skills and general care for people, but I guess you've figured out that most of the people on this blog are either firmly out or firmly (only for a time being) in, so off goes the mask as there aren't many sponsoring opportunities here to make it worth your while or at least make it above the minimum wage.

Must have been a bad STP night (no-shows or bunch of NOs) that you had to come here to blow off some steam like that...

Xan & BB

Take a chill pill. Do you think a committed, core, IBO would say "with all of the things that suck with this business" Maybe I should have said as a "former founders ruby". See not only did I found out filling the sales tax didn't pay minimum wage, being a Founders Ruby, putting 75K miles/year on a car, going to all the "required functions", being required to "purchace" tickets to a function only to be slave labor for the diamonds for three days, having your upline start a new tool business that rendered your extra tools obsolete and worthless, going from debt free and my wife at home when I started the business to 50K in credit card debt and my wife working, also paid less than minimum wages.

But wait, aren't those some of the things that suck about the business, and should make people run for the hills when someone says, "Hey, you look like a sharp person, I'm looking to expand my internet business in this area, and I need a couple of sharp, go-getters like you to expand the territory..." Not because they might have to fill out some freekin sales tax form.

Hi George,

Welcome from a former Q12 Platinum in WWDB! Seriously, we would love any and all of your input here.

In defense of X, there is A LOT of history on this blog AND on this forum. After what...3-1/2+ years, most aspects of the business have been discussed at least once or twice...you may have quite a bit of reading to catch up on...X has covered many hard-hitting, important subjects and I'm sure would even agree that this is not the most important subject to discuss. However, in the course of blogging, one eventually discusses every subject, big and small...to repeat ones self over and over is boring for regular readers. Remember...you're on the same side. Do some archive reading before you jump all over someone who shares the same views.

Adding in your two cents on the current conversation is way more productive, whether you agree or not.

And, again, since you were once a Founders Ruby, I, for one, would be very interested in your take on every subject discussed here.

Also, come to the forum and share your story with us, in case you haven't already (I don't read every post there...busy life and all).
