Constructive Criticism

By QBlog in Blog News

As you may have noticed, this site has undergone a redesign. It's not 100% complete as I still need to make some tweaks, minor adjustments and retemplating of non-blog powered pages.

So, here's your chance to offer some constructive criticism (aka suggestions) about the redesign. Keep in mind that some things are simply broken and will be fixed when I have time. Your feedback is welcomed.

And lastly, I'll have to delay the "big announcement" for another couple of days while I get everything straightened out.

Thanks for your patience.

UPDATE: Your feedback and patience is appreciated. Everything will be tweaked and ready to go for Monday and then I can give the much teased "Big Announcement."

Again, thanks for your patience.

UPDATE II: More setbacks. Looks like much is out of alignment on the right rail in Windows versions of IE. Also, I'm very aware of the Blog Ad being out of position. Thanks for pointing that out. It's obviously NOT going to stay there and we're trying to find out how to fix it.

Are you pregnant? ;)

Well, as I said in the forum, the font is kind of small, especially quoted text.

I like the top of the page, although I miss your eyes. That guys eyes (and hair) are no match for yours. Oh well...

One really good thing is that you don't have to type p any longer to begin a paragraph. That was a pain.

It will take some getting used to, but I can handle change. :)

And just so you know, I love this blog. It's the only one I read on a regular basis. Qblog rocks!

I like the old format much better. Or this can be repolished.

BTW lots of stuff, side bar links etc. breaking, as you said. Massacre in firefox.

That guys eyes (and hair) are no match for yours. Oh well...

They should be, because that is "The Scream" QBlog up there.

Funny,
I have not noticed any problems in Firefox. Is yur up to date Imran?

Anyway,

As I said yesterday, Changing the color or shade of "Posted by: NAME | DATE" would be good, kind of hard to read all being the same color.

rara> That guys eyes (and hair) are no match for yours. Oh well...

Waymee> They should be, because that is "The Scream" QBlog up there.

rara> Oh. Now I feel a little stupid.

My excuse is I only joined this year.

Still prefer the piercing/spooky eyes.

I think something is needed to separate comments better. I.e. borders or differing colors. It's just hard at times to separate the different posts.

The only suggestion I would have is some kind of demarcation line in the comments between commenters. In this format, it is difficult to distinguish where one comment ends and another begins. Or, to put it another way, I agree with quicksilver723.

Your blog ad in the side bar should be better placed.

This is how it looks in Safari Version 2.0.3 (417.9.2) in Tiger 10.4.6.

Site looks great, but the font is really small and difficult to read when you're quoting text.

Ditto on the comments separation!
Also, I would suggest going back to a narrower righ-side bar and orgnazing its contents into one column, as opposed to three.
Still, a great job! Cheers!

Qblog,

Don't worry about all these critical comments. That's why you show the site to your close readersand family members first. They remember you from before, and they can't believe you would have any great ideas.

Now that you have them out of the way, you can get your blog out to people who don't know you, and they will think you are an expert blogger because you have on a suit and are carrying a briefcase. Be prepared for your blog to just explode now!

Just remember one thing. You want to blog today, like others won't so you can blog tomorrow like others can't!

I love the photo with the hair sticking up. Very usable top right column organized to make everything easier to find. Your CSS for your navigation is sweet.

font is small..can it be increased to size 12 instead of size 10 like it is?

If you folk can't afford a screen big enough to make the font very easy to read, perhaps we should sit down and I can show you a way you can make some extra money?
;-)

really hard to read each comment. They need to be divided better

The font is way too small... can barely read it.

Actually, smaller screens show the font much larger. Go figure.

It seems the font is bigger now. And thanks for separating the comments. Very nice.

"insider", it's nice to know that you despise people who earn less money than you do, but it adds nothing to the original question.

Hello! I like the comments section fine. The orange links on the right side are a bit small, but as you say, you're still tweaking.

I like the hair on fire guy. Is that still you?

I'm viewing through Firefox and the blogads thing is kind of oddly placed... like half of the side bar.

Oh well.. no matter the format or color scheme... I'll be reading.

Keep it up!

Oh side note to Francois... I think Insider was joking around with us. (grin)

Have a happy weekend!

let me guess what the big news is. You found out that Orrin Woodward's latest book, "Launching a Leadership Revolution" is being published by a major publishing company (Time Warner I believe) and will be available at all major bookstores throughout the country. It is projected to be on the Top 10 New York Times bestsellers list soon. Not bad for a guy running an illegal scam. You got to hand it to Orrin, the man just keeps scoring. Any QBlog critics going to publish something in the near future that will be backed by a major publishing company? Probably not. Critics usually have no marketable skills.

ummm...inran34...I hope you are not trying to suggest that because a book is published by a major company, it is automatically good...many books that are absolutely devastating to truth, reality, life, or anything for that matter are published by major companies...

Anyway, back on topic, the line between comments are a good addition, looks much better now.

X

X, you have to admit. It's a pretty big honor to have your book published by a company like Time Warner. It might not be good (which by the way, is not the case here. "Launching a Leadership Revolution" is a phenomenal book) but it is still an honor to be picked up by a major publishing company and have millions of consumers read your book. That must mean that there are countless of readers out there that will buy the book and actually like it. The fact that you are so quick to tear down such an achievement is evidence of your bias. You and people like you are incapable of being objective. FYI, the word is, the proceeds of the book are all going to charity. Not bad for a guy that is manipulative, greedy, and money hungry...(note the sarcasm)

inran,

This is a place for site suggestions, not a pissing match of opinion...and frankly, I take a very objective approach to things, I in no way discredited the book at all, I simply pointed out your post hoc proptar ergo hoc logical falicy. Send me a copy of the book and I will read it and give you my thoughts.

I am so happy that Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady's Book Got Picked Up By Time Warner. It is nice to see nice things to happen to nice honest, trustworthy people. i am so glad that they are giving the profits to charities. I cant wait for their forth book.
