Super Bowl Eve
By QBlog in Miscellaneous
The Big Game is tomorrow. It's one of my favorite events of the year though lately I've been spending it at home with my family instead of attending the traditional "pah-tay." I would like to see the Steeler's win but have this gnawing suspicion that their ride is over and it's the Seahawks time. I don't bet and don't really care who wins but if I had to pick a dog in this fight, I'd pick the Seahawks. Who are you pulling for?
Comments
Definately the Seahawks!! I'm in DETROIT - where the game is being played this year (just in case folks didn't know that!) & have wathched all the fans, players, & coaches this week. The Seahawk fans want this soooooo bad. Steeler fans do too, of course, but not like those who have never experienced it! Luckily - both teams are used to rainy, wet, icky weather!
Steelers!!!
Seahawks had easiest schedule. They don't deserve SB.
Steelers.
I think they have it together much more then the Seahawks and then you add playing for the Bus and Joey Porter ticked off the Seahawks are in big trouble.
Nuttin can stop Da BUS!!
Go steelers!!!
Disenchanted IBO and anyone else visiting Detroit: In which city is your hotel/motel/friend's or relative's house? How has it been in Detroit proper for you thus far? Just wondering - I live in Warren, a Detroit suburb, and have been reading comments from visitors in the paper. Out of all the people who have made you feel welcome (if so), is it your opinion they have been predominantly from the suburbs (I have been told so). Again, just wondering, because Detroit has a severe image problem (mostly self-induced), and they (Detroit residents) for the most part do not have any desire to change it. They feel all of the problems are the suburbs' fault. To put it bluntly, many Detroit residents tell "us" to get out and leave "their" city to "them."
I haven't decided fully yet. Will decide probably in the opening minutes of the Super Bowl, or when I make it to the bar.
Why the hesitation? Simple: Seattle is a recent transplant to the NFC from the AFC, and I once rooted for Pittsburgh (it happened to be the one time they lost the Super Bowl, alas). While I know that Pittsburgh was transplanted from the what was the NFC to what would become the AFC during the merger of the NFL and AFL, that's ancient enough to me to just know as trivia.
Will probably root for the Seahawks. They're the NFC representative (as recent as the change was), and being a Detroit "Lions" fan (note the quotation marks. I've referred to them as worse) I've almost always rooted for the NFC, rooting for an AFC team when I've had reason to root otherwise.
Booyeah!
Steelers SuperBOWL XL champs!!!! With TWO gadgets plays!!!!
I really didn't care who won. I just wanted to watch a well played and well officiated game. I got neither. :(
IMO only call that is questionable is Matt's tackle. Rest was fine? Even Big Ben crossed the plane.
They'll show in details on Tuesday on NFL network.
And yeah, many players were chocking big. Ben was not his 100%. Stevens chocked.
But it was way better than last years sloppy game. Eagles were not even trying to win.
I'll update u from NFL network.
gadget plays were cool, no?
Gadget plays are cool when they work. They are a disaster when they fail.
Last night on Letterman, Big Ben admitted he felt he did not get the ball over the line, but they had planned on going for it on 4th down. Could have been a huge momentum shift. We'll never know. Also, the pass interference call that denied Seattle a touchdown was bogus. You see worse not called every game. Not to mention some phantom blocks in the back and holding calls, and what you got was a very poorly refereed game. Did it affect the outcome? I guess we'll never know.
Yeah, it was close. But on review after review, it is clear that he did make the TD.

That call is being debated a lot. But officiating wasn't nearly as bad as it seems.
pass interference call was correct, at least consistent with this season, except when Atwaan Randle El was held against colts. But that was defensive pass interference. Whole argument is worse has been allowed. It would be debated given or not given, specially in End Zone.
Two Gadget plays did work??? Hines Ward 18 yeard run and reverse pass play?
SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although if they did lose to an AFC foe - I would rather see them lose to the Steelers than the Colts or any of the other AFC Folks!
I've lived in the NW for 26 years and have been a fan of the Hawks the entire time - through the thick and the thin - believe you me - there have been many thin years!
