That's right, home of scam-way!
I live just outside of Huntsville, Alabama but I was born and raised in Tennessee.
I would like someone to give me some good information on quiztar as I have just been introduced to it.
Thanks
Jimmy, I've been involved for over a year, and I'm pretty happy with it. My 3rd check was for over $200 dollars. Now they're not all that big, but I've had a few that were.
The more effort you put out and the more volume you create the more you'll make. It's up to you how serious you wanna be.
The best thing to do is to sit down and ask questions with the person who introduced it to you, cause honestly, no matter what I say or anyone else here says, you need to get answers from the person you'll be working with.
Some people here think the company is a scam, some don't like the fact that some people make money on CDs and Seminars, and some have a bone to pick with the way their sponsor treated them.
I'm on a great team, and I really like the people I'm involved with. Nothing's guaranteed, it takes work, but the questions you have will be best answered from the person you'll be workng with the most. Good luck with the business, if you decide to give it a try. If you decide not to, thats okay too, you may like some of the products and may decide to be a member or client of your friend. Take care.
ps. I'm from Ohio
Jimmy,
You should do your research online and read some books, talk to people who lost their homes and marriages in this cult. Amway/Quixtar is just a products manufacturing/distribution company. The danger lies in the motivational organizations.
Go to Amquix.info and their you have a list of questions you should ask the person who introduced you to this scam....err business.
Tony is right. Ask the guy who showed you this. Ask him how long he has been in and how much he is making after all the expenses. And ask him why is there is so much negative info everywhere about this scam. All the people who are saying this is scam has proof. But if you ask them QUIXSCUM people, they will not give you facts. Just some crap about DREAM. And if you are not fundamentalist, right wing, bible thumping christian, its really difficult to survive the brainwashing.
Whatever you do goodluck. Watch out for the Con artists in Amway.

There is a tragic irony in the fact that the 2-5 year plan was so much 'better' than the 40-40 plan that after 20 YEARS, my upline direct hasn't been DD in years, and my upline Ruby isn't even at the level he was at when I got in 'way back in '87. But, "If you just never QUIT, you'll MAKE IT!" -- so they are still pouring their time and $$ into The System! So sad... :-(
Jimmy, be very careful. Tony from Ohio says he's happy, been in a year, and to ask your upline closest to you.
Before I go any farther, just want you to know my wife and I were in for 5 years. We regurgitated all the lock-step biz-speak, and like robots just blindly accepted whatever our upline told us. We showed 8-15 plans per month consistently, were on ALL the tools, attended EVERYTHING, did it all.
Bottom line: we ended up 50k in debt and we're now digging out of that. We are doing very well, I might add because I now have a really good job making 75-100k yr. I don't mean this arrogantly, but we are both college-degreed from a private Xian university. We knew to sponsor "up", and we both are accomplished public speakers. (No brag, just fact).
Pure and simple advice: if you can't pay cash for it, don't do it. Although your upline may not ENcourage debt to build the business, they most likely won't DIScourage it either. BEWARE big time of that trap.
The positive: because of the system, we developed personally in our people skills and work with people more effectively than we would have otherwise. However, I can assist you in that aspect of life aside from the business. I'll be glad to help.
On the other hand, if you're determined to "do this thing", I don't want to stand in the way.
It will be interesting to see if Tony from Ohio will be saying the same things he's saying right now 4 years from now. In my case, when I was at his stage in the business, I was saying the same thing. I even said I'd never quit and I'd be in it for life. I guess I ended up living a lie, because I quit. However, I'd rather live with that consequence (reward, actually) than to remain in that all-consuming system that took me AWAY from my church, my family, and left my wife and I so broke that we nearly lost our house.
What I've written is mere thumbnail. I could write a book. But I just don't have the emotional energy to deal with all that stuff. My wife and I have NEVER been happier and more blessed. We have our lives back.
At the beginning where you are now, there doesn't seem to be anything more exciting or exhilarating than the business, and you may feel that you just can't get enough of it. And you often think that those poor misguided souls who don't share your enthusiasm are somehow losers who will always be "slaves" to a J-O-B (perish the thought).
Ironically, since I got out I've never had MORE freedom. Don't be afraid to ask questions. More importantly, demand straight answers.
Good luck and God bless whatever you choose. Just use good ol' common sense and treat THIS business like any other business (although to avoid giving you a straight answer, they'll tell you that this isn't LIKE any other business; therefore, I'll sound like I don't know what I'm talking about).
But when they tell you that, just remember I told you they would tell you that. (ha)
By the way, I'm from KY.

I was home on leave a few weeks ago, and a friend of mine from Augusta, GA invited me to an open meeting in Atlanta. I had never heard of Amway/Quixtar/MLMs/etc. but as soon as I got in that room I knew something was kinda fishy...before they even started talking about the "plan." My first reaction to my friend was, "This sounds like a chain letter." Her response was, "Yeah, but a chain letter never works." I think we're both right! My friend is very excited about her "business" but she will not tell me how much she makes...after a year at it. I bet she loses, but I could be wrong. Anyways, the whole idea of it all made me feel really uneasy, so I started looking on the web about this stuff. I found your site, which is the best I have found (and there are lots!), and I also read the online book, "Merchants of Deception." I think I am going to try to infiltrate the organization and bring it down from the inside...it is absolutely disgusting and deplorable, in my opinion. MLMs which are simply legal/PC pyramid schemes have a few at the top who deceive those at the bottom and get rich in the process. I can't think of a more vile example of mankind's total depravity and rotten nature.
Just my 2 cents.
Rob
Grand Rapids, MI
Rob, forget it. It's bigger than you are. Don't stall your life on negatives. It'll never make you more positive.
Been there, done with that.
Been there,
I think you're right. There is no way I can beat something that big. But on a small local scale, I would like to get in, and uncover some of the BS for those who might not see it. I bet I could ruffle a lot of feathers...maybe not do any damage, but at least make some of the deceivers a little uneasy. I just think they should be exposed, and someone should confront them to their face. This Hathaway guy who Showed the Plan at the open meeting I was at seemed like a real scoudrel. Even if it all works how they say it works, they place far too much emphasis on getting rich and having nice toys...doesn't sound like humble living to me. Their pseudo-Christian ideals and goals get flushed down the toilet when they act as if you aren't worth a crap if you don't make 250K by sitting on your butt. Far too worried about being rich and having five 80k cars in your garage and a 50k rolex. What ever happened to loving your family and fellow man...regardless of how much money we all make or what we do for a living? Anyways, someone made a comment about fundamentalist, ultraconservative, Bible-thumping Christians...I would put myself in that category, despite the negative connotations, and this "business" still seems like its rotten through and through. I have no idea what my point was...I am just rambling. I guess my point is that I think this business is poison, and I am going to get in it, and ruffle a few feathers...thats all.
Rob
Rob:
I'm sure that everybody here appreciates your intentions to destroy this evil monstrosity of a business, but right now you've got your hands full being over in Iraq - and need to totally focus on that first, considering the dangerous & unstable environment that you are in.
It's more important that you guys (and gals) get home safely - hopefully in the near future - before focusing your attention on a satanically run organization that pays homage to the green god while purporting to be serving mankind.
Rob,
That's fine. But for now, mlmscam is absolutely right. You guys and gals over there get home safely first, then worry about this stuff here. Our prayers are with you all. I have a special feeling for you guys since my dad as a Marine in 1945 landed on Iwo with 250 men in his company and 33 came home. You are all heroes to me. God bless.
Rob,
Just to clarify. I see nothing wrong with having lots of money. A lot of money in the right hands is a great blessing. I'm close friends with some wealthy Xian people who give a lot away. Remember, broke people can't help broke people. At almost every turn in life, it takes money to help. Not always, but the great majority of the time and in the great majority of cases. I would like to be wealthy.
Having said that, what I don't like about the Quixtar business are those extremists in the uplines who would have you sacrifice everything for this all-consuming business. And then the "dirty little secret" of the tools business is really what gives the business a black eye. The reason is that the kingpins in the business (and there are only a few) are so wrapped up in gaining their wealth from that aspect, that the purity of making the legitimate money from PV on the products seems to become totally diluted. And I have seen that tools business become filled with greed, self-serving, and causes a lot of political jockeying and infighting.
So I see nothing wrong with making and having a lot of money. I just don't like the way it's obtained in "the business."
Been There,
Thanks for your kind words and well wishes. I agree with you about wealth. I have no problem with having a lot of money, and I think most people would choose to be wealthy if given the choice. And I also agree that wealthy people have a tremendous opportunity to do a lot of good in this world...an opportunity that the middle class might not ever have.
My problem is that the guy who showed me the plan made it seem as if having a lot of money is the only worthy pursuit in life. He sent the message that you are a worthless human being if you dont make 250k and drive a new hummer. Heck, 250k and a new hummer sounds nice, and I would not complain if I had it, but I know lots of very good and valuable people who don't have that. He also implied that anyone who is not driving their life towards great wealth is wasting their life, and might as well just evaporate. My father has worked the same blue collar job for over 30 years...yet, he has provided a wonderfully comfortable life for my mom and my brothers, and he has been a great example of what a husband and father should be. He has always had plenty of time to spend with our family and plenty of money to take care of us. You see, it wasn't his money that showed us how much he loved us...it was his action.
So basically, I don't think a person's income makes one bit of difference in their value as a human being. And I know lots of other top notch people besides my dad who don't make a great deal, but money is not what makes a person valuable. That's my only issue...too much emphasis on being wealthy...too much love for money and nothing else.
Rob
One more thought...at least a dozen people/couples at this open meeting got up and shared how they had come to "know Christ" at the most recent seminar weekend. So, it seems obvious that the system/organization running things has some kind of Christian backdrop, and uses Christian ideals and teachings as part of the business or motivational system. But doesn't the Bible say that the meek will inherit the earth? My IBO friend showed me a video clip online of some big shots who had a Christmas party at their mansion. They flaunted their 5 car garage that was full of luxury cars and their rolexes and their 10000 sq ft. house etc. That didn't seem like very meek and huble living to me. Nothing about this business seems very meek or centered on Christ. It seems very arrogant and centered on money. Just my thoughts...
Rob
Rob,
1st off thank you for serving our country! Everytime I meet a soldier in our Armed Forces, I always make an effort to thank them. So thank you for the work you do!! I hope you and all the others get home safe!
But I have a question. You say its OK to make $250,000 and have an H2 Hummer, but then you seem to have a problem with a nice house, 5 car garage, etc. because it doesn't seem like "meek and humble living" to you. So which is it. Is it OK to be wealthy,or do you have to live meek and humble?
When I see a DVD of Joe Markiewicz and the car he drives,a nd the house he lives in - I don't see it as bragging - I see it as showing the fruit on your tree. I see it as motivation, and proof to naysayers.
Maybe this Hathaway guy is too into money, but at an Open meeting, you have to appeal to the lowest common denominator, which is money! If you're truly a Christain (and notice I spelled it out!) then I think overall you'll agree with this business!
On the Markiewicz team they don't flaunt or brag! Yes, Joe and his Diamonds have nice things, but they do nice things too. On that same DVD Joe shows the house he bought for his parents next to theirs, so they wouldn't have to move because of his mom's company moving her. His dad got laid off and his mom's job was moving, so he "retired" his parents, gave them a few acres next to theirs and helped them build a house!
He also bought a house for his wife's parents!! When he holds his annual baseball game down in Nashvilleand rents out Grier Stadium, is admission $10 or $5, No its FREE!
You might just have a negative way of looking at things. Or maybe this Hathaway guy really said "if you're not making $250,000, you're not worth crap". Maybe he really thinks what a man make is his only mark of value. You kept saying he implied it? Maybe you just misinterpretted it. Maybe you went in with the wrong mindset. One things is for sure, this is NOT like a chain letter! I don't even see how you make any connection. Add you name to the list, drop off the 1st name and then send a dollar to each person on the list?? That's not a business? there's no product!Thats nothing like franchising, or like this business at all!
Yes people make money on tools, because knowledge is valuable. If you couldn't make money selling knowledge colleges would be out of business! The cost of our seminars are cheaper than Any other business seminar or conference I've Ever seen! And our books and CDs are cheaper than other CDs and cheaper then you could buy the same books in most book stores! Certainly cheaper than college books!!
I think you should join, but do it with an open mind. Just stick around, go to the night owls, go to a conference, get to know the people. Again, I don't know Hathaway, you may want to look for someone in BWW under Markiewicz. But just don't go in trying to destroy it, until you know what it is your trying to destroy, cause for some its their dream of being able to provide for their family, bring their wife home to raise the kids, etc. And most are doing it with NO income from tools! Ask your friend about XS and the market at bars/restaurants. Ask about the Gift Albums and how much some people are making just selling them to corporations. This is a business, the tools/seminars are optional. If you don't see value, don't participate, but many people are making money by doing this as a business. I use my own products, I have customers, and I've helped others do the same. If you really look into this and don't just let the negative hype pursuade you, I think you'll be surprised what you'll find. Good luck.
Tony,
Thanks for the advice, and for your kind and encouraging words regarding my service and my fellow soldiers. We appreciate your support and thoughts and prayers. I agree that I should remain open-minded and not make any pre-judgements about Quixtar. However, everything I have seen about the biz so far has turned me off. My friend's personality has definitely disappeared and been replaced by the system. Even in our normal daily conversations, she would use phrases that I later learned were straight from tapes and seminars. She once quoted a Bible verse to me and said, "A man without vision shall perish"...or something like that.
Anyways, it is possible that my own biased interpretations have clouded my perceptions and critical reasoning, but I doubt it. Hathaway never directly said that I was garbage because I don't make 250k, but his attitude, demeanor, and tone made it pretty clear that he wanted us all to believe that people like my dad who work a job and make a decent living and love their families are not nearly as good and valuable as he is because he makes so much more. Hathaway is not half the man my father is.
And finally,
>Tony: "So which is it. Is it OK to be wealthy,or do you have to live meek and humble?"
The 2 are not mutually exclusive. Nowhere did I say that meek and humble Christ-focussed living requires you to have low or medium income. I think wealthy people with lots of toys can easily live a meek and humble life. If you make 250k and drive a brand new hummer, that is fine with me...but you don't have to post videos of all your wealth on the internet and shout to the world that you are better because you have this stuff. Remember, it is only stuff. Wealth and humility can coexist...I just have not seen it from the big wigs at AmQuix, despite their Christian affiliation. After all...who provides us with our good fortune?

There are MUCH better ways to make the extra $100 a month, folks! (With the same amount of time, less overhead, and MUCH less pain, anguish, and embarassment.)
lol - Mikey T! That is so true for so many of the Q-ites. $100 extra per month - BEFORE deducting expenses, of course.
Cary, NC
I currently earn some extra cash working part-time at a tutoring center. I work only 5 very flexible hours per week, and earn $280/mo. with the only expense being an additional 6 miles of gas for that one extra day a week, to compare with some Quixtar paychecks.
Never measure yourself by your paycheck. You will always be found wanting.
Tony, Tony, Tony,
You've been drinking the kool-aid, son. Don't be too negative toward me until you've been in as long as I was. When I was in at your stage, I was thinking the same thing about people like me as you are thinking about me.
Your language and phraseology are down-the-line system, lock-step type stuff. Nothing I say will discourage you from the biz. You're like me. I most often have to learn from personal experience. I don't usually listen to someone else. I wish I had in the case of this business though.
Been there, done with that.
Any other information on this Hathaway guy? I think I know who you're referring to, but I'm not totally sure.
