Chinese Give Avon Nod, Not Amway
By QBlog in Miscellaneous
News reports indicate that Avon has been given the greenlight to "test direct-selling" in China.
Avon was the only firm to get such permission from the Ministry of Commerce while global rivals such as Amway and MaryKay failed.
Analysts believed the approval was rooted in the government's appreciation of Avon's abidance with related rules in China and its favoured business model.
Guess Amway's got its work cut out for them in China.

Maybe Avon's expectations of it's distributors is a bit higher - and rules apply to everyone.
Still, this bought back memeroies of toting along with my Mom as she did her Avon route.
Ah yes, nothing more exciting for a 5 year-old boy than watching ladies chat over coffee and go thru the latest Avon catalogue. Sorry, no Gameboys, etc. for me, I had to sit thru it all.
I know she didn't rake in the big bucks, but she did make a tidy sum and always sold enough that we kids got to choose what we wanted from the "kids"section of the catalogue every month. It was a good social activity for her at the latest duty-station my Dad's Army career took him (and us) to.
Still, those little boys in China don't know what they're in for.
Little boys in China are less in involed in social activities than western kids.
The most important for Avon to get thru China's admission is that Avon's distributors didn't bring such bad social influence as its rivals such as Armway did.
Sum ting wong
