Raise Your Hands

By QBlog in

Sometimes fiction does what reality can't.

Wow, what a great turnout tonight. How's everybody doing? Great! Me too. It's wonderful to see so many of you here and I just want to start by asking a couple of questions. By a show of hands, how many of you out there have ever had somebody try to get them to become a Quixtar IBO or an Amway Distributor? Just raise your hands. It could be anybody, a colleague at work, family, friends, your pastor, anyone.

Ok, ok. Good. Lot of hands out there. Spectacular. Now, keep your hands raised if you were "prospected" to join Quixtar or Amway more than once. If you were only recruited once, then put your hands down. I just want to see the hands of people who have had different people try sponsor them in "the business."

Ok, ok. Still a lot of hands out there. Not as many but quite a few. Keep 'em raised. It's good for you. Gets your blood flowing down your arm into your brain. Boosts your thinking power. Now, how many of you, with your hands still raised, ever had someone try to sell you Quixtar or Amway products before trying to get you to become an IBO or Distributor? Keep your hands raised if someone tried to sell you a product like SA8, XS Engergy Drink or Artistry Cosmetics before showing you "the plan." You can put your hands down if nobody tried to sell you products or they only tried to sell you products after trying to recruit you.

Goodness. A lot of hands just dropped. Not many hands raised now. Not many at all.

we were always taught that you NEVER EVER sold product before trying to show the plan, UNLESS the person was an alcoholic, drug addict or 93 years old. (those were about the only reasons why you wouldn't try to sponsor them, despite all the cheap talk about "qualifying" people).

It goes hand in hand with the curiosity approach, since you can't hoodwink them into your "e-commerce" meeting if you've already let the amcat out of the bag!

If a person sells product then client knows very well about the prices and company name, and an IBO prospect is gone.

client => few PV, a lot of stinkin' thinkin'
IBO => 300 PV at least as long as they are in, and no stinkin' thinkin'

So, what would a person choose? For personal profitablilty, client. Fo making more volume for company and uplines, IBO. Sadly, majority IBOs don't put much focus on retail as retail ain't 'residual'

Quixmire-

My teaching was different- probably a different LOS.

They told us 94 :-)

I sponsored 19 in personal width through the curiosity approach.

My hand's down, and I'm sitting on it.

What an awesome perspective, I never really looked at that way. Thats a great way to show just how unimportant the products actually are.

Imran,

Curious. You're talking from personal experience? You lead in with the products and they all disappear? Not what the system told you. What you actually did.

For me, product lead-in constitute 75% of my prospecting. If I do go the route of "biz opp", it's always the direct approach--I work with WWG & Quixtar, here's Quixtar's Business of Life Brochure and here's WWG Private Franchising CD. Read it. Listen to it. If you like what you read and hear, we'll get together for an hour for more detailed info. If you don't like it, I wish you the best of successes in whatever endeavor you chose.

But do you ever drop the A-Bomb when you are discussing products?

I know of no group who would ever do that as part of trying to find someone to show the plan to.

Quixtar? Sure, lots will say that. Amway? Never.

Imran makes a good point. People generally think that it's a good deal, until they actually see the prices, which suck at best.

But good luck with that.

Yes Jen, I'm talking what I did, was taught to do in opens, seminars, upline and what I saw others doing. Curiosity approach. Absolutely no mention of Q (even eCommerce) and get the butts on the seat. Then show the 1 hours plan. There were justifications not to mention Quixtar while prospecting. (ppl had misconception and they don't know what it is etc.)

I don't know where u live but in Toronto, many many ppl know Quixtar. If you use the word, boom, gone. But the same ppl got interested after seeing the plan. I was not bad :) Neither was open speakers.

That Private Franchising CD doesn't tell much. Does it? Does it mention product prices? Notion of getting ppl in a business ( which is about product and services) while not keeping services and products up front is misleading. It's at least waste of their time.

Ethical approach: This is my business. This is what I sell. Try it first. This is how I do it. This is how I can help you. Wanna do it?

Most people quit as soon as they get started when they place a order. They felt real good about it and trusted you then they get their totals on pv/bv and think man this is going to be hard. Then they go to functions and hear all the hype. That usually weeds them out. They see the time and expenses it takes and have to face their friends and realtives. It shouldn't have to be such a losing business adventure. So much is negative about it .The goal should be to help the people make money but that got lost a long time ago.

Ultimately, you have an unworkable business model.

By the way, the comment from R is me, it was incomplete. Sorry.

Michael and Jen, do you really feel as though you have a viable business model, despite the prices?

What makes your system so good that it is actually worthwhile for people to spend a lot of extra money on to have, ultimately, the same outcome, which is the consumption of everyday products?

What indeed?

Imran,

Sorry, my question was badly formed. I know you were taught not to use the product lead-in. But from your personal experience, have you used the direct approach/product lead-in. And when you did, they ALL disappeared? May I ask about how many prospects this was?

I live in Northern California. Only a tiny number (ballpark figure 5%) would disappear after seeing Quixtar Business of Life brochure. The BoL talked about all the coreline products. The website allow anyone to see the price. Before Quixtar did that, I gave them my IBO # for them to register themselves as client so they can check out the price themselves.

After showing the plan, we give them an "info kit". That contains a number of product samples. Both the catalogs and the BoL. The Switch brochure. And a rally tape.

Where's the hiding & deception? The prices are there. The products are there. The blueprint for generating income are there.

No, I don't talk about the 2-5 year plan because I got nothing to back that up. If the prospect ask me how much effort, I say I have no idea. Expenses per activities, I spelled out. # of activities necessary to generate said income--my response, I have no idea.

Rocket,

What's unworkable? Prospects check out the products & prices, like what they see. Some only want to buy. Other want to buy and sell. What does the system got to do with this?

Those who don't like, they don't get involved. I haven't spent much time with those who don't. Five minute for the contact. Give them the BoL & Private Franchie cd. Then pick them up on the way to/from work. Not a whole heck of time spent with cold lead.

As I stated earlier, 75% of my prospecting are with product lead-in. From memory, I would guess close to 80% of people that I spend 1 hour with get involved with me, either as biz builder or as clients. I don't do a lot of plans. Haven't done 800. Don't think I done 80 plan. Done numerous 15 min product session. But less than 80 1-hour plan.

The current push in WWG is products lead-in. If you're doing a house plan, you have a number of products highly visible. If you're going to a coffee shop, you bring along a box of products. Emeralds & up, when doing organizational plan, is suppose to spend 10 minutes talking about it.

It's late, I'll answer u later Jen, But if u don't hide the product, God bless you :) I don't need to tell u since u seem to be on the right track but business is about the product, not opportunity.

# of prospects I blew: My first month, got to be 10 or so. Ppl just smell amway :) But then I learned, I need butts on the seats so I better not use Q word.

10 Ppl I used the word Quixtar. August Sept 2002. Then I learned since ppl don't understand it, I better invite them with vague approach and have them see the 'whole' plan.

Product approach: I think same number of ppl. I heard "They are expensive" but still thought they are 'concentrated' so it's good to show them.

I also know ppl with HUGE income, and they also said that prices are a rip-off. Owner of franchises, COO etc.

Once I wanted to hand out catalogue, My upline just snatched it and told me later in detail how stupid idea it was. It was on a Quest. (now known as PASE). I thought if a prospect is serious enough to come to PASE after open, they should see all the prices now. But no, no recommended in our LOS.

Also, I didn't know about amway before. I thought Quixtar was such a new idea. Partner of Microsoft and IBM. Born in 1999. How could it fail?

Jennifer7Lee> Give them the BoL & Private Franchie cd. Then pick them up on the way to/from work. Not a whole heck of time spent with cold lead.

Imran>By the way Jen, all ur prospects live between ur home and work :) I'm sorry but that ur area must be full with ppl who are quite 'open minded' to Quixtar with not much concern about prices.

OK Jen,

You don't talk about the 2-5 year plan because you got nothing to back that up

So what's the deal? A/Q has been around how long? 40 something years, and yet you cannot back up a 2-5 year plan?

I cannot think of ONE serious business investor or prospective business buyer that would go for that. Not a one. That's what I mean by unworkable.

One would think after so may years of history, you'd be able to define some semblance of a plan. Or is the history something IBO's aren't comfortable bringing up?

Full disclosure is something that is ESSENTIAL for anyone contemplating purchasing a busines, so they can evaluate the potential for profitability, and whether or not there is a market for said business.

That is, when you are talking about a real business.

Imran,

I live in central California and work in the Peninsula (Silicon Valley). My one-way commute is between 80 to 100 miles, depending on which route I take. Thus, quite a number of people live between home & work ; )

The Bay Area is pretty wired and intelligent. Most will prolly hit the net within 30 sec if they're half-way interested.

Curious, did the curiousity approach work for you? When butt were in seats and they listened to the 1 or 2 hours spew, they got excited and stay excited? What good is signing someone up so they'll quit later?

You were in Britt World Wide, right? I'm surprised there's that much of a difference between BWW & WWG considering how much Britt is "edified".

For me, it seems like a utter waste of time to provide information piecemeal, hoping the prospect will gloss over bad info later. I rather give the prospect all the bad info up front. Any who still stick around, will stick around a long time.

Rocket,

What are you talking about? Why would I present the 2-5 year plan? Why would I have to back it up?

You can not think of one serious biz investor that would go for what? Lack of info in certain area? P-Leaze. Biz is nothing but lack of info.

Guess you and I run in different crowd.

Jennybot wrote:

Considering that your are employed in the IT capital of North America, I would figure that you are smart enought to know that INFORMATION and TECHNOLOGY are the two driving forces in business today.

Maybe you're a secretary or janitor and lack basic business sense ???

Either way, you are missing the boat, honey.

And your mispelled, broken-English/slang is hilarious.

By the way, if your cult expounds that jobs are for losers, why do you have a job 100 miles away???

Hypocrite!

Ok Jen, haven't seen WWDB so can't say they are 'so honest'. OTH I was in Gala LOS. the most abusive LOS. And yeah, u got it. It was not 'give bad info'. It was give no info at all :) In open speaker imply bad info making employers and wal-mart look like a rip off but never said so DIRECTLY.

But Jen, now u r saying giving bad info is bad. After few months you'll be speaking in favor of it and saying it's a 'standard' sales technique. Just like you were against the AQMOs and now favoring it.

Jen said:

"Guess you and I run in different crowd."

Oh yes we do, because if you say business is all a lack of info, then you are not as smart as I gave you credit for.

Do you have any idea how much research is done befrore a "real" franchise is opened? Location alone can take weeks.

Anyone starting a new business has to have a comprehensive analysis and projections of profit to present to the backer(s) or financial institute.

Again, that's when you talking about a "real" business, and not good old rinky dink Amway, where you try and get anyone and everyone involved.

You said a while back you work 80-90 hour weeks, and were not involved in the tools, and yet were planning on creating a residual income every month that would allow you to pick your nose for a month and not lose any profit. You have 168 hours every week. If we subtract your 80 hour work week, leaves you 88 hours to get sleep and create an empire that you describe. On retail, because you don't go for the system money, right?

Uh huh.

Jen, I asked you a few months ago how you plan on doing that. Care to answer now?

By the way, I'm not stealing your dream. I couldn't give a rat's a$$ about what your dream is, and what the hell would I do with it if I stole it from you? I AM very curious as to how you think this can be accomplished, because it defies any logic known to man.

Do you have an answer or no?

I love it when the "bots" compare their "business" to a traditional business, especially when they compare start-up costs. Never has the old adage "you get what you pay for" been more true.
