Monday Reader Mail: 28
By QBlog in Reader Mail
This week's Reader Mail expresses a desire for unbiased and objective information about Quixtar. Information from a source that doesn't stand to benefit from positive or negative impressions of the business. My response to "Paul" was that such fair and balanced information is hard to find and that's regretable. I do what I can but much more needs to be done.

message: I just read the part where you want feedback from whoever is looking at the blog (from January 2003). My girlfriend has just got involved in Quixtar and took me to one of their motivational dinners where they promise hundreds of thousands of dollars and show all of the rich people who have lots of stuff. I somehow found it hard to believe that all 2000 of those people were going to become millionares, so I wanted to check stuff out. So far I've looked at the Dateline special on MSNBC.com and your blog appealed to me as an objective view of Quixtar. So far, I like your style.Paul M.
Thanks Paul. My style seems to annoy some people but those who understand it seem to like it, even if they don't endorse it.

Did you make (i.e. NET) any money during your 5-year stint? People are bound to critique that aspect as well.
If you made money, then your pockets "are lined", if you lost, then the detractors would label you a "broke loser".
I think finding the person you described is very difficult (if not, impossible) to find.
Just express your opinion. What people do with it is entirely their responsbility.
Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one and everyone elses stinks!
PW,
The ONLY person that has the right to call you a failure is yourself. If you left the business for some reason, thats your business, no one elses. I think your post is a great post! I agree with DF, just express your opinions and let others think what they want. Have fun with these posts. Take care!
It seems that people like to define for themselves what constitutes "fair and balanced."
1. I would think that a fair and balanced viewpoint about the business would have to come from someone who was involved at one time, since no one who had never been an IBO could escape the criticism that "you were never in, so you cannot understand."
2. A fair and balanced view would have to come from someone not currently working the business, since being in the business automatically confers your blessing on it. IOW, if you didn't believe that the claims were true, you wouldn't be involved. One who endorses the business while not being a part of it would probably be considered a more neutral source.
3. There would have to be no financial gain to be made on either side of the issue. Money can influence opinion, as can the lack of it.
So far, I have described myself. I don't claim to be unbiased about the business, but I was involved for 5 years, so I have the background and the understanding necessary to make a judgment about it. I am no longer in the business, and I stand to gain nothing by sharing my experience about it. In fact, sharing my experience (along with Bo Short and Eric Scheibeler) has opened myself and my family to some risk. I certainly made no money while I was involved, and I stand to make none for speaking out.
Some might claim that my view is simply an effort to make excuses for my "failure" in the business. Perhaps that is true. I don't think so, but I was led to believe that the business worked by the same people who would now claim that I was simply making excuses.
So who would YOU believe?
I often find myself rather believable.
