These pretzels are making me thirsty

By QBlog in

Quixtar pretzels sucked. They were either too salty or too stale. Rold Gold they weren't.

The boxes of orange juice that didn't need to be refrigerated sucked. Never could figure out how they kept that juice from spoiling without refrigeration. Guess it did spoil because it sure tasted awful.

The lawn and leaf bags sucked. Note to Quixtar, trash bags should not have TWO holes. One hole is sufficient.

The protein bars tasted like sweetened cardboard. And the weird thing was, after eating them my stomach hurt. Even my poor tummy knew those protein bars sucked. Yet I ate them because we must have had a couple of hundred in our pantry.

Quixtar peanut butter sucked. JIF please. Quixtar peanut butter wasn't the worst I've ever had but it certainly wasn't JIF.

Those meals, like meat and veggies and stuff, that didn't need to be kept cold. Those sucked. Actually, I never ate one. I started to once but it smelled so bad I threw it out. My wife loved them but then she was earning PV/BV with every bite. Yummy.

I did like SA8. No idea how good it was at getting out stains because I don't really stain my clothes but it didn't clog our drain and that's good. But the name SA8 sucks. Get a new name Quixtar.

Rant over. Move along. Nothing to see here.

The reason those bars upset your stomach is all the sugar alcohols. From the Yale-New Haven Hospital (http://www.ynhh.org/online/nutrition/advisor/sugar_alcohol.html)

"Unfortunately, there are some negatives associated with sugar alcohols. The most common side effect is the possibility of bloating and diarrhea when sugar alcohols are eaten in excessive amounts. There is also some evidence that sugar alcohols, much like fructose (natural fruit sugar) in fruit and fruit juice can cause a “laxative effect.” Weight gain has been seen when these products are overeaten. The American Diabetes Association claims that sugar alcohols are acceptable in a moderate amount but should not be eaten in excess. Some people with diabetes, especially Type I diabetics, have found that their blood sugars rise if sugar alcohols are eaten in uncontrolled amounts."

Quixtar's protein bars have most of their "carbs" in glycerin and maltitol (sugar alcohol), which, under the Atkins system, doesn't count as a "carb." So they pack these things with sugar alcohol to sweeten them and the side effect is that maltitol is a laxitive that will upset your stomach.

BTW, there is serious doubt as to whether sugar alchols can be disregarded as carbs. http://www.countcarbs.com/advice/To_Count_or_Not_to_Count.htm

The were not included because they don't have a dramatic, immediate effect on blood sugar. Thus, they were considered safe for diabetics. However, the reason for this is that they digest more slowly. They are ultimately still metabolized as carbohydrates. So the 22g protein to 4g carb reference to these protein bars could be a little misleading.

My stomach never got upset.

I guess we IBOs have an immunity.

When we were in, they had calcium cheese puffs. Tasted like styrofoam packing peanuts painted orange.

The catfood blew chunks. Our cat, who eats everything, wouldn't touch the stuff. We wound up tossing it out, forget the hassel of sending it back!

Sorry, more questions:

I suspect that these glowing recommendations are directly related to why I have never seen an Am/Quix product outside of an Am/Quix household. For a business based on retailing, isn’t this odd?

I was told by my upline that if my family didnt back my business, they didnt care about me.I was told to do it without them. that comment and my trust in the "business" almost wrecked my marriage. Im happy that I realized Quixtar is a scam when i did.As a matter of fact, Quixtar still owes me $$ and products!!!!!! I pulled out in 2000

Aren't pretzels suppossed to make you thirsty? Isn't that why they serve them at bars so you will buy more drinks? I don't go to bars but seems like a good marketing idea to me.

I didn't like the Rold Gold stuff ether...but I bought it and had it ready for samples.

I agree...SA8 needs a new name.
Works well but needs a new name.

Why don't you have a contest Qblog to see who can give it a good name?

If you didn't like them why did you buy so damn many or return them. They take anything back for free.

I hated the protein bars. My ex ate them all the time. Yuck! Those microwave, unrefrigerated meals were ok, but too darn small for what we paid for them.
