I discovered an interesting blog post from onionboy today. While it appears that this guy was "in" two different MLM organizations at one time or another he is only now able to "to write about it (those pains) without being affected by it."
Another interesting aspect of the post is how onionboy perceives MLM (specifically Amway) as clashing with Christian values. He seems to have found conflicts between the Amway "teachings" and his Christian beliefs. This is notable because it contrasts with stories I've heard of others who left Amway because they felt such Christian values were being shoved down their non-Christian throats.
Anyway, I love finding fresh perspectives about MLM. Thanks for sharing onionboy.

Thanks for the clarification. I modified my post to make my message clearer and to better represent the reality of your situation. I wasn't intending to make it seem as if you felt anything was being shoved down your throat. What I found odd is that you felt it wasn't "Christian-like" in comparison to your understanding of Christianity while others felt Amway was too Christian and decided to leave for that reason.
Anyway, this was my first time to use Trackback. Didn't realize it was so easy to use. Actually, not many bloggers discuss MLM so I haven't had a great opportunity to use it until recently.

Not a problem at all. Never was. I didn't feel misrepresented. :) I just know that one of the weaknesses of this wonderdul medium is getting one's intended meaning clearly understood. We have to write so, so clearly as the reader really can't get into our head :)

It's April 6 2004, months after that original post and I still get people linking through from your mention here on this blog. There's usually at least one a month. Weird huh? People are reading your archives and, as a result, mine too.

Thanks for the link back. I should like to clarify one thing. Rather than leaving because I was tired of having "Christian values were being shoved down their non-Christian throats." my point was that I saw that their bastardized version of Christian values were in conflict with what I, as a professing Christian, believe to be sound scripturally and in terms of plain common sense.
I was not in various MLM but two, Amway and Melalueca. The other failed venture was a trumped up "franchise" opportunity.
Just to clarify.
