Billy B. Britt involved in scam?

This story from the Triangle Business Journal reports that:
With the promise of a monthly 10 percent return on his money, Chapel Hill Amway executive Billy B. Britt drove over to Raleigh's Capital City Club in May 2001 to meet Wilmington securities dealers Daniel and Robert Henry Burr.Interesting.
At that meeting, Britt slid a $3 million check across a linen-covered table to the Burr brothers. Two months later, Britt gave the men another check - this one for $2 million.Passage of those two checks has sparked what's being called perhaps the largest single financial fraud case in North Carolina history in terms of the amount of dollars that have disappeared.

Bash some one? It is just a peace of news? And who is not going to believe that? It is on newspaper and on of the point peggy filed against bill, to stop him for further losses.
I am very very skeptical. I have this guy at work who is trying to get me to be involved in Quixstar and I am feeling pressured to go to these Monday evenings after I go to work. It takes away my little free time.
I feel it's like a cult. They brainwash you and manipulate you. Right now I am taking advantage of an IBO who works as a Dell Technician who fixes computers. He's doing this all for free. Brand new RAM, Hard drive, PCMCI card, Disk burning software. I love taking advantage of this. I will stop letting this coworker call me and pressure me.
Also I feel that Quixstar is homophobic,racist, and sexist and very Christian.
I want to know the dirty details about this Quixstar and if anyone has anything let me know.

Robbie, what you on about mate, your little free time? You work your butt off for 8 hours a day, you got 8 hours to sleep a day and another 8 hours free time. YOu mean free time to watch TV? Or go out with the larger louts?
Well, maybe you should just stick to doing the usual plan you've been brain washed with, which is 40 years of work, for 40 hours a week and end up with 40% of your income. Man, think!
You think we need you in the business? We're doing you a favour to get off your butt, do something constructive, make money so you kids don't have to be working their butts off for 40 years, or if they wanna work, they can tell the boss to take a hike when he tells em, "sorry, no holiday for you because we got to finish client work, so my wife can have a new car and we can pay our mortgage!"
Man, brain wash? Give me a damn break. Have the balls to say No or Yes instead of ducking and diving someone who is giving you an opportunity. You want don't to get in then great. You do, then great but don't start saying something which you haven't the balls to say it to the guy who is inviting you.
He sees you either as a mate and thought, "well, he's a good mate and I'll invite him."
You know what got me pissed off and work the business to top. People who I thought were mates but were bunch of tossers, who didn't have the balls to just politley say, "thanks mate but not interested."
Instead, they say, "yeah I am, I'll call you or you can meet me here at this time." And let us wait for them.
Just say yah ain't interested to the man. Have some damn deceny and some balls!
I see that some people have been able to make very good suggestions to the facts and some people have only expressed their opinions. Any one who makes a comment about quixtar should know quixtar on both sides of the fence before commenting. Just like any other topic. Don't base your comments on internet blogs or 3rd person news adds. They might not be accurate.

I agree with some of the people who have defended the Quixtar business, but on another note I think that there will always be people who get thier kicks out of writing on the bathroom walls of the internet. I think if you dont agree with the business than great but keep your opinions to your self, and to all the IBO's I think you should keep your opinions to yourself also because your just wasting your finger strength by typing a defence. Just remember keep your dreams alive and dont worry about the saps that dont like it they can just keep working and hopefully be happy!!

I no longer am pressured by this guy at work since I am not working there anylonger. I also returned the materials he gave me to read and the cds from people who have "success stories". I totally think quikstar is bullshit and same with amway. I did get the decency and the balls to say no to this pyramid scam. By the way Dave, you sound very interesting and sincere. Don't walk, Run from Quixtar. It is a crime to take advantage of greedy foolish people who have no education or hope for the future. My neighbor recently tried to recruit me and I politely told him he was wasting his time and this was nothing new. He tried to smile and stay positive explaining the higher purpose of things. I am a born again christian as well as a successful sales person in a real profession making real money. Over the past 25 years of business experience I have seen divorce, debt and suicide over this nightmare. A few make money off of the thousands who get sucked in and fail. Just last week I spoke with a woman outside the post office who was in tears because her daughter was caught up in this cult of greed. Her daughter is about to lose her marriage and her home due to pursuit of false riches.
Jesus said "Be free from the love of money" "Do not be corrupted by the world""Give all that you have to the poor and follow me." You would never hear those passages at a Quxtar event.
Please never ever be decieved by this pyramid scheme full of deceived people who decieve others. Thank you.

My boyfriend, a Quikstar junkie, has given me the ultimatum of buy from him, over 25% of my income or else he won't love me. I have two kids to support and we might starve to death, but he insists that he can't give love if I don't respect him by giving him money.
