why is this site so wide?

This site is about 1000 pixels wide for one reason only, because it can be. Most sites are designed between 600-750 pixels wide to fit snugly in browsers used on monitors set at 640x480 or 800x600 screen resolution. Designing for those restrictive sizes is...well...restrictive. When designing webraw, however, a decision was made to "break the rules" and this extra wide site is the result. However, a redesign is being planned that fits the lower screen resolutions. But until then, deal with it.
